Dear Catanju,
we will introduce a gd pi thread after the calls are out.
so dont worry.
So you are a pharmacist haan...
the biggest marketing Bond of our batch is a pharmacist himself. and we have 7-8 pure science background ppl in here.
Though like every b school, the scene is dominated by a species called engineers...still we have got enough science and a few commerce guys like urs sincerely....
The biggest finance Bond is a Chemistry Graduate himself...
so dont think about your background.
No background is inherently good or bad...
sab moh maya hai...in the interview only ur honesty confidence and guts matter and nothing else...u will see when i post a transcript of my interview.
till then chill ....

Hi. I hope to get a call from GIM. My score:
QA 89.41
VA 93.76
LR 73.03
OA: 92.28
Going by previous years' trends, I think I shall manage a call from GIM right? The main query is, I have 2+ years work-ex at Oracle. Will a MBA from GIM do any value addition to my profile in terms of salary and job profile? Seeing the current recession scenario and 2 years hence, I know its a vague kinda question, but just wanted to be sure! Seniors, reply pleej!

(Ah here is my double NELSON post)
well, guys dont worry abt ur background as an hindrance to ur seat in GIM
Wat profs of GIM will look at is a good candidate and ur background/grad subject wont matter much.........If u hv fire in u, no one in this world can stop you...........
In our batch only we hv ppl from all sorts of background; CA intern, Doctor(surgeon),Bpharm, Eco hons, Stats hons, MS in physics,MS in chemistry, ms in biotech and of course loads of engineer .............
Infact one of my roomie is doctor and other is CA intern and i myself is an engg..........so can see the kind of ppl GIM is composed of............
We get to learn so much from each other and i believe thats what MBA is all abt..Learning to survive, njoy and then succeed in an unfamiliar sorrunding...........
I wont comment on few coll which take engg as if it is not a MBA coll but an Mtech coll, but GIM makes sure that u hv a healthy combi in every batch
So stop worrying abt ur background(u cannt change it anymore) and start worrying on things which u can change(GD/PI)...........
All the very best for the shortlist
P.S
Snape mentioned abt Marketing bond and finance bond on our batch, we also hv "the_paradox" or the crocodile of our batch who are equally good if not better..............and for mortals like me well we need ppl to fill the bottom 10% also.

Hmmm .............
Value add in terms of money and profile, well dude is it all u looking for .........
In that case, it will u will get some 10lac+(avg) after two years(dont know ur current salary) so you can calculate ur gain in terms of money....Abt profile, well i dont know ur current area of interest and the kind of profile u r looking at............u may get investment banking when all u wanted to do was corporate finance........or u may get HR mapping when u wanted to get into recruitment...........
But one thing i m 100% sure of, GIM will give u the best two yrs of lyf, it will give u a laboratory to horn ur skills as an manager, a peer group which u always dreamt off, around 100 nite outs and a platform to launch u into corporate world and for other needs, GOA will take care of it
Abt recession, it has hit everyone and it has hit where it hurts the most........
But then u can rid ur way around the recession,if u work hard........real talent and hard work will always be rewarded.......If u good, u will get the profile and salary which u want and if u r not good, leave alone GIM, even IIM cannt help u much
All the best for the shortlist !!!
P.S
Someone once said " when your neighbor loses his job, it is called an economic slowdown. When you lose your job, it is a recession."
So it depends on u, how u want to see the current situation,as slowdown or recession........

Nicely put Nitiksh....could'nt have summed it up better. And guys who have doubts regarding their backgrounds please stop worrying.....its not ur background that matters here but what is it that you are bringing on the table...I hope u get it!!!
Apart from this be rest assured ur background does not matter once ur here.....and believe me in the MIS course that we are currently having the non-engineers are the one's who have developed the best models for the assignments given to us....
