apart from nitiksh's suggestion, another good answer for the question regarding probable majors is to say that you are undecided and will be able to do so after a better understanding of management subjects over the course of the first year, unless you have an exquisite way to link HR with architecture. that's what i answered and got through! and believe me there are many guys in the first year here who are still not 100% sure about the major electives they're going to opt for.
there's no such correct or incorrect answer for a typical PI question but your answers need to be a little consistent.. and practical!!
there's a good chance that you'd be grilled about architecture, especially why MBA after architecture, let alone something as specific as why HR after architecture.
so go in to the interview room with an open mind.. dont clog it too much with pre-prepared answers. all the best!

Hi Shagoon,
I am sure you will ;-)
Glad to see your interest in GIM. All the best for the call.
I have word of caution for you. Even if you are looking to be an HR major, do not make this very obvious to the interviewers or they might take your case and prove to you that you either do not have a liking for the subject or are not fit for it!!
Many of our seniors realised what they want to do...or more importantly dont want to do, during their summer internships!!
So as told by a senior, go with an open mind. If u wanna do HR fine. But I would strongly advice keeping it to yourself and show that you are open to all the learning in the interview. After all GIM has a common course in 1st year and even in the second year, no one forces you to take type of major minors...you can take as many credits of whichever subject electives you want because GIM promotes a holistic learning.
But you can still take major minor by taking a larger number of subjects from a specific field like marketing, finance or HR...
We all will discuss this in detail once the calls are out and the GDPI thread is opened. Till then...
Pray...
Snape

Infact u can play it to ur advantage, by proving that how ur subject has made you see the world in a different way and how an MBA with HR majors will be value add to it and help u in acheiving the things you had always dreamt off.How HR as a subject has always fascinated you and ur ability to work in group and mix wid ppl makes you an ideal person to join the GIM for an HR majors... (Akki, snape, sherry and prat how much wud i hv got had i answered this way in Marketing-II) ........................
Just make sure u know few HR fims of india and what the different verticals in which u will like to work in HR..............try to get hold of some HR majors to further info...........i dont htink i m qualified enough to answer any question on HR:new_scatter:
U may not be asked details abt ur grad papers, but they can ask the papers/subjets u hv read or on the work u r currently doing................
Just collect info on few of the modern day marvels in the field of Architecture
I hope this will help..........
P.S.
1> Guys i just answered this query as it was the first one, dont ask any queries now ........wait for the shortlist to come and then we will there to help you out
2> the abv reply is wat i wud had given if i was an candidate this yr, but you shud prepare better answers as faculities in GIM as experienced enough to know who is giving an honest reply and who is not(we get caught all the tym :-x )............just dont repeat this answer......................

Wow Nitiksh Full marks !!!! Now dats coming from a person who had thought of doing Finance before coming to GIM, after term 2 (rather after Prof. Sarvanan, our finance professor, screwed us royally in FM-1) decided to do Marketing. And now this HR gyaan, Niks u truly are a Global Manager, KT our very own Globo would be very happy with you. Rite friends!!!
Shagoon, to tell you frankly if you have a conviction about doing HR, good.I just want to advice that do a lot of research on it and be sure of ur answers. The faculty who will be coming for the interview are experts and know their subject pretty well. So be well prepared.
All the best!!
cheers!!

Thanks a lot to seniors nitiksh, iluvparixit, Snape and akkinaya for such clear replies...i guess giving simple and consistent replies abt how an MBA would add value to my archi degree and talking abt other generic benefits that i would derive through this course, wud help me cross the hurdle.....rather than talking abt something which i m not so clear about, at this stage....honestly speaking, my interest for HR had basically derived only coz of hearsay...now i know wat to follow...thanks :bday:
but i m sure i would need more of ur help after the calls are out....in the meanwhile i m just hoping for the best
