from what i remember the cost of GIM form is different before and after XAT exam. i would advise you to fill the form right away. use you XAT id and password to login then fill in the necessary details of GIM in the PFA-form . after which u are required to take a printout and send it across to GIM. either pay via dd or thru the ims/time/pt etc. affliated centres. very few know the reason behind differential costs of GIM form. im one of them

what 'differential costs' are you talking about? it is 1200 throughout and the last date to apply is 31st december. XAT takes place on 4th January. So where is question of different costs before and after XAT?

very few know the reason behind differential costs of GIM form. im one of them [/quote]

A pretty irrelevant query to raise at this point...

But because I know the reason I satisfy your curiosity.

Unlike many schools, GIM does not follow the ungentlemanly practice of letting you fill the forms after the test, which the school accepts, is over. You CANNOT fill the GIM form after the XAT exam is over.

There WAS (AND NO LONGER IS) a differential in the application fee last year. If you filled the form till September 30th 2007, you were charged the normal fee of Rs 900.

But in case you got late, a sort of late fee was levied and you could fill in the forms for a fee of 1100 bucks by 30th November 2007. But no way in Mephist's hostel that you could fill the form after XAT....

But this year as described by Parikshit its the same throughout.

Guys, rest assured, GIM is a Business School. But its not a business but a school, so everything they say and do, has a reason that has the ultimate interests of students in Mind.

Thanks a lot

dear snape , 1st and foremost it was not a query it was a statement.
also last year the forms costed 900 in november and 1200 in december. and FYI i had a pretty long interaction (PI) with GIM proffs about this differential costs and presented to them my reasons and derivations...which did align with the motives and reasons of GIM. and to be frank....it was a brilliant subtle way of allowing GIM to aid in their admission process (hats off to GIM management..seriously) and. (plz let me know if u want me to tell you the reason behind differential costs beacuse i guess there is no problem in me divulging it since the trend has been discontinued)..you wouldnt know. anyways...also dearest snap there is absolutely nothing ungentlemanly about letting students fill the forms after the exam is over. on the contrary...it gives the applicants more leverage because after the exam is done a student will know where he/she stands. nevertheless it really doesnt matter. if u gotta fill a form u will fill it. before or after the exams is totally irrelevant to a serious mba aspirant. u must be knowing better eh snape? no hard feelings mate we wouldve been batchmates but for TISS...p.s i met a couple of your batchies who had come over to TISS for 'manthan'
1. the violin guy
2. the piano guy
3 .ankush
4. another 4th guy...give my hi to them.

Peace.

This august thread is not a place for discussion of this sort.

So this my last post regarding this here.

If there is nothing wrong with the practice of letting u apply after exams,

why dosent IIM follow it?

Why SIBM closes before SNAP?

No B school worth its salt, except ONE that i know of does it.

I am not going to respond to any replies on the public thread.

I will surely convey your greetings to Mr Sunder, Mr Reuben, Ankush, and Jaggu....

Re: Admissions 2009-11 Goa Institute of Management - 24-09-2008, 02:00 PM

Peace out Guys!!

I believe in this melee we altogether lost the question asked by Allan.

Scattered, I appreciate ur willingness to help on this thread. All the same I would request you to first check the current process and then give answers. Else they may confuse everyone who visits the thread. As far as this years admissions process is concerned there are no differential fees for application and all the applicants need to fill the form before 31st of December 2008.

Again, we all are B-school students and as per the rules of PG, I would request refraining from personal attacks without prior knowledge. Scattered , in case there is anything personal that you wish to write use the PM facility.

We also would like to thank ur college TISS for welcoming our batchmates:

Sunder : "the guy with the violin
Reuben : "the guy with the piano"
Ankush and Jagdeep.

I would have appreciated if u had remembered the names of atleast
Sunder and Reuben, since both were finalists at the " Claim for Fame " Event at Manthan 08, TISS. And Sunder went on the win the title finally.

Allan: As regards ur question its my personal advise to fill up the form immediately, in case u have decided upon GIM as one of ur desired colleges.

I remember last year one of my friends missed the deadline by one day. Once the heat of the exams begin we generally forget such minor things that may cost heavily later on.

Hope this answers ur query.
