Hi,
Does GIM provide core specialisation like Finance, marketing , HR etc or
do the students take electives based on their interest in 2nd year ??
Also what profile do the guys of Operations get. I mean are they recruited by all the sectors ?
One specific question - I am having work ex of 2+ years in pure software field , So how is it gonna be for me choosing specialisation and at the time of final placements will my this work ex be considered if I ll be specialised in Operations and trying to move to consulting/banking Sector.

what strategy is right for you depends on the colleges you are targeting. whether they consider sectional cut-offs or not. but at least try to maintain a decent %ile in verbal. you dont want to be cornered for a low score in that section in the PI stage, do you?
all the best.

Shashi,
At GIM we donot have any core specializations as such. The students get the choice to select their majors and minors from amongst the various areas available.
Guys in operations would generally be selected in areas like Supply chain, production, manufacturing etc. Your question regarding specialization is pretty unclear to me. From what I understand if u wish to take Operations as specialization which you are totally unrelated to till now, it depends entirely on the company whether or not to consider ur work ex . Even for banking and consulting your work-ex will be considered only if the company finds it relevant to the job that you are going to execute. As far as IT companies are considered you would have an edge over the others since you have an experience in that sector.
Cheers!!

Hi Puys
There is no scope to select the program while applying to GIM.
Or is this online application for thr PGDM course.
Or we have to mention the program name somewhere.
Kindly clarify.
And one more thing - maybe its not relevant...just out of curiosity ...
Staying in Goa do you take the weekends off and enjoy or always busy with projects and classes 24x7.:1eye:

Hey there is a Jha here and frm Mumbai too!!
now thats a coincidence!!!
Anyway, guys, I advice you do not sweat about your applications reaching cos the Indian Post is pretty efficient and GIM has systems in place to make sure that once applied these minor glitches dont deny you of application. You can track ur courier and at any point you feel the need to talk to office fr a genuine reason.
Just call Jenny (only if u have a genuine reason).
She helped us all last year and I dont think she has changed ;-) !!!
Prepare well for your XAT and come and rock Goa.
And those looking for a two year Holiday here in this tropical paradise...well proceed to the Life@GIM thread for the truth!!!
Regards
Snape
