1. Any idea where i can get the sample / previous year papers of TISS?
2. Can someone throw some light on the exam pattern?
3. How close is it to CAT or MAT or XAT?
4. What kind of prep is necessary for clearing TISS?
5. Is there higher weightage for English in TISS paper?

Hmm...ideally speaking, nothing is good enough for GK, as anything may be asked...

I believe if you have been reading atleast one business newspaper over the past 3 months and a magazine like CSR or Manorama Year Book, you should do well enough....lets say score a 25-27 out of 33 marks allotted for GK..

Swagata, you may also buy the IMS GK Power Builder, Im sure other books are available at Career Launcher, TIME and Career Forum, or as in Kolkata, Erudite....

Looks like CAT's been on ur mind when u have posted...

Yes, it looks like there is a conspiracy against Science Graduates, as in they want a more diverse student profile instead of only engineers as has been the case over the past few years ( in my class of 65, close to 35 odd are engineers....)
So, there has been more emphasis on English, but I really dont see engineers weak in English, so the jury is yet to be out on whether CAT shall be able to drive out engineers...

1. Even if u get the previous year's paper, its of no use as the pattern has changed 360 degree this year, and you wont get it as we are not allowed to take the TISS paper back home.

2. Exam pattern has been explained in the previous page of this thread

3. 67 % of the paper is close to CAT/SNAP/NMAT. 33 % is GK similar to IRMA.

4. Normal entrance exam prep for 66 % of paper, as for GK, do as much as you can...

5. The sample papers for TISS say 37/100 marks for English [ 20 in part 1 and 17 in part 2 ]

Well, I am waiting from the Placement Committee to mail me the final official details...but I can tell you now that our average package for summers 2009 has increased over last year a bit....

It remains to be seen how the global recession affects our finals process for the Batch of 2009, I guess we would see more aggressive recruitment from Indian MNC's than foreign MNC's...

Hello Puys,

Firstly I would like to introduce myself... I am right now pursuing my final year mechanical engineering here in Chennai and I must say that I am just not 'interested' in doing a HR course but I am passionate about it ...

The only reason that I am forced to get a reality check on this passion of mine is that I am a fresher and from a non relevant engineering background. How much of a handicap is this?? Being a fresher in itself might diminish my chances of a good shot in the first place, and then would be the engineering part...

I would be grateful if someone could answer this query of mine.. I would also like to know if there are any instances where someone with a profile close to mine has actually cracked the entire process...
