Hi puys,
Here is what i think regarding the cutoffs..As someone has already mentioned in an earlier post i too think only overall cutoff will be considered(i think i remember readin that somwhere on the tiss site) and that will range between 65-68...i think they gave us a chance to maximise our score in the 1st paper and tested us in the 2nd paper...a great 1st paper will make the difference i guess..

All the best for the rest of the exams..

laissez faire means non intervention so it is definitely not the answer.

here are a few more questions that i remember:

1.. jhulan goswami`s profession - sportswoman
2. first indian artificial sattelite - aryabhatta
3. most sparsely populated state- arunachal
4. magsaysay 2008- the amte pair
5. not related to global warming- abul kalam
6. mark fellow is a founder of- facebook
7. fortune 500- IT
8. state without female CM : maharashtra
9. political party mismatch- pmc(tamil nadu)

thats it for now.
my exam went okay okay...:-x
wasted time in second paper
didnt attempt many questions( perhaps a CAT hangover)
little corrections here
1) maharashtra gomantak belongs to goa and not maharashtra so thats the answer.
2) most number of indian companies in fortune 500 are from ites sector and not it.
3) i made a mistake robert augmen and co didnt win nobel prize in 2007 they won in 2005, its the third optin a group of 3 people i dont remember.

could you tell me what the question about the french term was? if you are so sure its not laissez faire.

well, the laissez faire question was something of the sort asking the french term for " to allow / permit " ..........
the answer is laissez faire only as it means Let do (“allow to do”).

Re: Tiss- Hrm& Lr 2009-2011 - 15-12-2008, 11:56 AM

My take on this..

the very same stuff to say..first part easy..second part tough..and adding to our woes the exam was grossly mismanaged..we did not get time to fill up the omr sheet..If the same thing happend last year then its high high time for tiss to do something about it..why because even a 5 min extra will give some 50-60 students a tremendous advantage because the deciding factor of exams like tiss is not toughness , but the speed..and owing to the fact that the no of calls is around 500,we see tht close to 10% of the ppl gain an unfair advantage which is not correct..

But guys ( or rather puys) lets not allow the ghosts of the past haunt us and affect our preps..we have other exams to take and most importantly gd/pi preparation to concentrate on..lets get on with tht keeping the fear of whether we would make it or not aside..because the worst part is to get a gd /pi call, see tht we have less than a month to prepare for it which is def not enuf, panic and then ruin it..beleive me the pain tht comes with it is seriusly excruciating...we have a battle to fight..lets not wave the white flag when only half of the battle is over..lets fight it till the very end..

1.if u have done well for the exam , great..nothing like it..:hurray:
2.if u r on the border line and u FEEL u havent done well, plz dont let tht put you down and dampen ur spirit..rememeber if u are in this slot and u get a gd/pi call u need to do really well to make up for it because the weightage for pi is the same as written and u wud have to make it up thr..

these are my two cents..

also i have a question for seniors, when they give out the call would they consider our profile also or is it entireely on the basis of our scores..

Ho Ho Ho ...

So now the TISS 09 exam is history eh ... Brings back scary memories of about a year ago when we were trying to find solace in every reason of us having missed out on scoring more... But then Heres what i gathered from the feed back:

1. The cutoff should be b/w 60-70 .. Section 2 will decide the upper limit.
2. The prob sec was tough for most o em .. that damage can be covered up in other sections
3. The GK questions were kinda tricky ... people who have generally read some MBA magazines have done better (Puys plz go thru the gk section of the MBA mags .. wil be useful for snap)
4. There have been mixed responses about management and mismanagement and all these responses have come from the same centers or even same rooms!
5. The exam scores are only one part ... though significant .. other factors were also considered for the final call .. so keep ur fingers crossed
6. Let the questions flow ... we can get some consenses on the answers to the paper if every one contributes
7. Let bygones be bygones ... We have a string of papers to come in the coming sundays .. lets concentrate on that and maximize on 'em ... bestaluk! :rockedov:

Diverting from the tension of the exams a bit ... we had a bash last night where in the juniors hosted a fab party for the seniors celebrating their summers success and thanking the seniors for their support ... Photoos up shortly ... signing off til the next post ... ovr and out!

-----
Cheers,
Sid !

maharashtra gomantak has a maharashtra connection but that tamil nadu party doesn`t exist and going by your logic rsp could also be an answer as it is present in west bengal and tripura.:snipersm:
however, i am not sure about my fortune 500 answer.
