Thanks to everyone for their expert comments and to Singh_is_King for providing pagalguy rankings. It helped.
Also, stop fighting over rankings. We must accept if we are ranked 50+. To be blunt, how many of us here are 99 percentiler in CAT or left IIMs to join here?
So, CHILL now!!

Please accept yourself as you are and have faith in yourself wherever you are.

I love to write but I am at my frnds place n not sure when I will be able to check pagalguy again, so thanks in advance.

No replies  ... was waiting for it.

But its ok now, as I would not be able to join because of financial reasons.
Anyway, I was in waiting list so it should matter much.

Thanks for your posts.

Hi Guys,
Do not worry about the refund... Last year i initially paid my fees but later decided not to join much before the course started.. I was returned back the entire money - Rs 1000/- (Processing charges). The refund took some time but the SITM folks were kind enough to let us know all these details (letters received, refund status etc) over the phone itself.

whoa whoa...what's going on in this forum. this is a forum to help out the candidates and not a war room.

@varun jindal
first of all i'd like to clarify that i never posted anything about distinguishing factors of SITM and SIOM. SIOM was never in the picture anyday. so would like to request you not to post the clarifications as we are both entities of the Symbiosis umbrella. so my sincere request to u is dont get provoked by the statements of those who r not even part of this elite brand.

and talking about placements, in IIMs there are 500 odd people studying over there and the placements there happen acc to the relative grading of theirs in Day 0, Day 1, Day 2, etc. we are just a batch of 120 people and we follow a very unique process that has made us able to place the whole batch in 6 hrs flat till now. only this yr it has happened that only 60% of the seniors were placed on D day and after tht companies are still coming and recruiting the students.

now talking about packages, as i already stated the the website tells u abt the 2006-08 batch placement stats only. and if u dont believe, i'll request u plz contact any SITM alumni and he'll tell u how the batch got placed in 6 hrs. and we never believe in inflating the figures. i mean, practically speaking dont u think 6.7 lpa is very less for an inflated figure. and talking abt the highest package this yr its actually 17 lpa thts a foreign placement by a consultancy firm and the same pack was offered to SIBM too.

so i'd request u to refrain from pointing fingers towards the packages. see its ur career and ur decision. if u feel we r wrong u r free to move on. but wht i'd say is tht, if the figures were inflated why wud i've been boasting abt the insti. its a food for thought. so please let there be truce and allow those who really need help over here. thanx

.......
Hi Everyone
There are lots of questions being asked about the placements and placement process. Infact i am seeing ppl from SIOM also joining the thread.

First of all i would like to reiterate that we indeed have had the entire batch getting placed in flat 6 hours till last year. Its a luxury which even IIMs did not have maybe because of their batch size, different sectors being targetted etc etc.

What we had a edge over other institutes is that we had a small batch of 100 people (our super senior batch, now the batch size is 126). Above it was a focused sector that has been growing since 1995. And the icing on the cake was India's growth story till last to last year.

Varun, No offense meant, but i would like to ask you which other sector is there in the country (off course other than telecom) which is still posting big numbers in their quarterly and annual reports?

So why cant we have the luxury of placing people even in this recession ( i would call it slowdown) affected economic situation.

Also We are the Best Telecom B School in Asia (yes, Asia). Our course structure has given us a edge over others in such a way that our alumni are rubbing shoulders with the alumni of Harvard, Instead etc. in the best organizations in North America and Europe.

I do not have the authority to publish the name of the companies (also this is not the right place)but so much is our demand because of the certain reasons (preparation of launch of 3G by companies, New companies entering India etc.) that we do not enough people to fulfill their demand.
There has been a lull in the demand of manpower in last 3 months but situation is improving.
Hopefully, In a month's time we will be able to place senior batch completely. That too at a time, when majority of the colleges are not even able to achieve 40 % placements.

I hope i have cleared the air. Queries are welcome.

With Best Regards

Hello Friends...
well a lot has been talked about placements & processes and i am happy that ankit, mohit, tanmoy and other concerned people have responded very well. they are d coordinators of committees like acads, web n tech,e-cell etc and very well know what they are speaking. thanx and keep it up!

now, anybody who will try to disrupt d image of the college/university by unncessary talk will be banned from PG according to the rules by the moderator. dear friends, if u hav any problem, any confusion, any query we people are there to help u out but please dont jump into false conclusions. whatver u have been told is 100% accurate.now its ur take to go with it or not. but in any case we are not going to accept any sort of insult to our college by anybody.we are proud to be a part of SITM and we believe in it.

now juniors:
so u might be waiting very eagerly for d day when u will join the institute. we can understand the feelings. now something regarding the first month of ur time here-i mean d dress code:
1. Boys r supposed 2 wear formals. - Dark colored pleated trousers with plain shirts and a tie-> patterned trousers will do if d make is not so prominent...
2. On d day of induction, boys will wear d same as above…Girls r supposed 2 wear saari. Decent and not so gaudy. Preferably cotton.
3. For full 1 month till d induction process gets over, girls will wear normal length suits with sleeves & no patialas & boys as written in 1.
Please spread d word. and as mentioned above-Ask 4 any query?

Hi Salil
SITM graduates are offered profiles ranging from telecom consultancy, business analysts, technical analysts, presales, business development etc.
Generally speaking students of systems get a bit technical profiles but there is no hard and fast rule for this. It completely depends on the company whether it selects a marketing person or systems person for a particular role.

Re: SITM 2009-11: Post Your Queries - 28-03-2009, 04:27 PM

Hi All

I think i should throw some light on the facilities available in the campus:

First of all about the campus:
SITM campus is situated in a serene beautiful hill top. From the classrooms one can have a breathtaking view of the hinjewadi phase 2. (although some times it can be a distraction during the presentations).

The academic block has the following facilities:

1) a big 1000 + Auditorium.
2) Common Library for 3 colleges with big section on IT and Telecom plus access to a online library.
3) Open Canteen.
4) A OAT (Open Air Theater to showcase your skills)
5) off course the class rooms, committee room and Convention Hall.
6) Cisco Lab.
7) a Helipad( vehicles are not allowed in the academic block though you can get your chopper)
Academic Block is Wi Fi. If you have forgotten to get your laptop to the academic block, Cisco lab is always there

Other than academic block, the campus houses:

1) Mess serving students of 3 colleges for 364 days. (It was closed on diwali since nobody was there in the campus).

2) a fully functional gymnasium (off course with a trainer).
3) a Swimming pool.
4) squash court.
5) TT tables.
6) Badminton courts.
7) Aerobics.
2 big playgrounds although right now not in the right condition.
9) doctor available on the campus 24 hours.
10) A guest house.

Apart from the above Hostel facility is there for boys and girls.

1) Both the hostels are connected by LAN with 24 hours Internet facility.
2) Generator facility is provided to the hostels and academic block.
3) All rooms are equipped with a cupboard, a bed, study table for each person.
4) Each room has a attached bathroom with 24 hours running warm water.

6) There is a Bislery cooler on every floor of the hostel.
7) Boys hostel has a recreation area where a TV, TT tables, Chess and Carom board are there.
House keeping facility is there for free of cost. One can get the room cleaned everyday ( though if kept clean, it wont feel like a hostel room).

Thats all for now I will post about the laptop deals and about course curriculum.

With Best Regards
