Re: SITM 2009-11: Post Your Queries - 29-01-2009, 05:28 PM

Hi puys

My name is satyam. I posted a question yesterday. Thanks to all for answering the same. It was regarding SITM and SIOM, which one is better!

I could understand with different answers that it all depends on one's interest.
However, I would like to reframe the same Question once again, coz I am still confused.

I dont have interest in TELECOM or OPERATIONS, and no hatred for them as well. so the question remains as it was!!! plz help!! All i want is good returns from the fees(As i would be taking a loan).

which one is better SITM or SIOM?

And if anybody could answer these questions as well, i would be really thankful!!

SITM

1. Will i restrict my career to Telecom sector?
2. Since i applied for mktg+finance, so can i opt for other sectors also?
3. I know telecom sector is preferred these days coz of 3G and WiMax coming up in India. But what if we see a downslide in this sector. And me being a sector specific manager, will I limit my job opportunities?
4. How is SITM better than SIOM?

SIOM

1. College only takes Engineers, so would i Limit my oppotunities to IT/Engg firms?
2. What is the meaning of Operations Management?
3. Why is SIOM better than SITM?

I also have a call from Christ University Bangalore.

Please tell me, which one should i prefer. and while deciding this consider me as an average elec and comm engineer!

What more college can i apply to?

MAT : 99.69%ile
SNAP: 70 (didnt got call from SIIB)

Plz help ppl.
thanks in advance

Lets start with the GD/PI discussions puys.

@nihilultra
  • May be u can help us with an outline of the process first... then we can carry on.
  • What about the "extempore" which is mentioned on the website. Few details wud be nice.
Thanks
firstly, none of the rounds of GD/PI is an elimination round....its ur overall performance(weightages are assigned to ur snap score, academics, performance in the GD/PI) that will decide if u can convert ur call.

ur convincing power would also play an important role.....so staying confident throughout the process is the key.

as far as extempore is concerned, u would be given a topic and 3 mins to think over it...it could be anything under the sun

GD would have topics related to contemporary issues...so keep ur eyes and ears open, go through the newspapers religiously!!
