AIM Manila and XLRI have signed a MoU to collaborate on certain issues. And yes, to attract more Indians, AIM has decided to accept XAT scores. Read more on the AIM website or here.

I completely agree with Mandar. One can't call any of the programs tough or easy, they're both similar. Also, as far the female centricity goes, there are 46 guys and 26 girls in our class (PMIR). Female-centric? :2gunfire:

Serious stuff...
The info you are asking about... regarding the "last years min percentile for SCs" is a bit difficult to get. You need to accept it that we are also students and not admins of XL...

Getting HR is easier than BM??? NO WAY...

I personally believe that getting anything more than 98%ile in XAT is not easy and both the courses require more than around 98%ile(we've already pasted the specific percentiles 3 times in this thread) to get a call. So, Nothing is Easy in XL.

Hey relax man ....... I kno its tuf.....bt watevr u gave me d infos...... dose r really helpful..... Sundew, having gone through the same conditions last year, I'm sure we understand. But then, the whole idea should be to give your best, because one can't really prepare for an exam with a percentile score in one's head. My suggestion is to give it your best shot, and not restrict yourself to the 'minimum percentile' selected.

And one small personal request to all those who post here. Please type your queries in ENGLISH, and not in SMS lingo. I find it rather irritating sometimes to find MBA aspirants asking serious questions in SMS lingo. It'll be great if you can restrict it to SMSes, and maybe PMs.

P.S. Also, to thank someone for his/her advice, please don't write a new post. Remember, there are other people who'd like to read through the queries,, and it makes life tougher for them. You can just click the Thank button, to convey your appreciation.

Re: XLRI 2009 -Official thread for Queries - 04-09-2008, 10:41 AM

This is the third time I'll be writing XAT (and applying to XLRI) and this is the third time I am finding the same 'weird' instruction by XLRI relating to the admission process:
"The candidate has to enclose the third copy of the bank ( XAT) pay-in-slip along with the completed XAT PP Form in the special envelope provided in the XAT Bulletin and send it by registered post / speed post / courier within a week of obtaining the XAT Bulletin."
I have stuck to this in the previous two years. But most of my friends were not able to. It is quite obvious that most people can't/won't stick to this. When you have something called deadline, then why do you introduce this new clause - 'within a week'. It causes inconvenience to candidates if we are particular about following it. Moreover it is not strictly seen by XLRI ie all my friends who sent the forms even after a week of obtaining the XAT bulletin(in the previous years), got their admit cards and were able to write XAT. Then why don't you remove this condition from the instructions instead of having it year after year. Is it like you are using the same template?

Catasp, since we're students at XLRI and are here on a purely unofficial basis, I don't think we can answer this 'why'. But I'll try taking this feedback to the authorities and see if something can be done about it.

P.S. All the best!!

Glad I could be of any help.. A friend of mine (from the SC category) a couple of years back got a BM call from XL at 91 %tile.. As I have said before, this data is purely indicative and should not be taken at face value.. I suggest that you do not get involved in number crunching at this point in time.. Jus concentrate on your MBA prep for now..
As far as your second question goes, I personally dont see any difference.. I had calls from both BM and PMIR last year.. I made it to BM but not to PMIR.. The GD/PI rounds are equally gruelling for both.. If I were to quote some numbers at this point, last year, a total of 490 calls were sent out for 120 BM seats whereas as 286 calls were given out for 60 PMIR seats.. The ratios are roughly around 4 : 1 for both the courses.. So, as I said, its equally difficult (or easy) to get into BM or PMIR..
As far as the "femalecentric" jibe is concerned, roughly 1/3rd of our batch comprises members of the fairer sex... With around 20 odd women in the PMIR batch and 40 odd as bummers.. Q.E.D.

I totally agree with Manan. And I write this again.
U CAN'T COMPARE PMIR & BM PROGRAMMES ON THE BASIS OF ADMISSION CRITERIA, PLACEMENTS, OR LEARNING VALUE. Try the comparison more on the terms of fields or ur future....

Re: XLRI 2009 -Official thread for Queries - 04-09-2008, 10:11 PM

Absolutely, you can't compare apples and oranges, can you? It would neither be fair to the apples, nor to the oranges. Of course, you might like oranges more than you like apples.

So, please refrain from asking us which program is better.

Come on yaar, you can always choose your program after the results are out. Till then, drive yourself to excel (no pun intended ) and do well.

As has been said by most/all of us, some people ditched PMIR because they wanted BM, and some like me, ditched BM, because we wanted PMIR. Obviously you're more likely to do well in a stream that you love, so that should be the only one that's better for you.

Makes sense?
