One thing that's very good with XLRI is that there is "No Reservation". Everyone is equal. Every institute should be like this and also every institute should be non-residential programs like US B-Schools so that person with families can do MBA without any problems.

I'm not too sure about the non-residential part though. The curriculum is so hectic that often one has to have discussions and meetings at 3-4 in the morning. So, anyone who stays off-campus would be at a clear disadvantage. XLRI permits people to stay off-campus, if they want to. But, no one I know does that. In fact, we have classmates from Jamshedpur, who are hostellers.
For married folks, I think the institute has special accommodation available on request.

Really. The acads really take the toll. But apart from that we hv so much to do in XL that non-residential program is simply impossible. I mean XL is lively even at 3 am. Full masti here... I hope Sumit agrees...

Sumit totally agrees!! Thanks to the currently going on exams, all I could think of were studues....but yes, there is a horde of activities at XL, and you wouldn't wanna miss out on them.
After all who minds an occasional break from the rigors of life? And who minds a bit of prize money as well?

I understand. But, the question still not answered as the Top Institutes in world like Harvard or Wharton (Offering Full time Non-residential programs) might not offer any easy studies but still they stand in good rankings. I wonder how they manages everything. Also, there the MBA is much more mature matter as compared to India.
The non-residential programs can also be improved to a great level if the institute people desires to do so. And, if they can't there should be hostels for married students or students with family responsibilities.
Anyway, I should not have started this discussion where XAT is supposed to be discussed.
Thank you

Well, whattever u say, there's no point in arguing. We are not the policy makers. Nor we rue the fact that we live in XL. So, rest all ur doubts regarding this and try to focus on the XAT paper. Maybe u cud bring a change when u enter the system...
PS: chill maar, and Gud Luck...
