i was filling the DEMO version
and found that there is column for degree %/CPA
my college had an OGPA scheme out of 5.00
i got 3.75

i tried to fill the column as 3.75/5.00 but the settings only allow for 3.75
CPA is generally out of 10.00 so if i simply fill 3.75 then the officails might think that i had only got 37.5% although i had an average fair score of 75% .
How to solve this conundrum .

Hi veenu_spoof!!

Actually you are supposed to mention the CGPA/% in the scale of 10 or for 100%. If you have score 3.75 in a scale of 5, that implies you can enter it as 7.5 in a scale of 10 or simply 75%........

What was the minimum marks (not percentile) required in Quant and AR to get a XLRI (PMIR) call in XAT 2008? Any suggestions on tackling the decision making questions?

Write the starting and ending dates...
e.g. April 2003 to March 2004

Hi Sheldon,

the minimum MARKS depends on the paper every year...a single digit cutoff is not unheard of and I was once told by my IMS instructor that in one particular year in the nineties, the cutoff had plummeted near 5.

So noone can predict the MARKS cutoff....actually thats when your judgement comes in. You look at the paper and arrive at a possible cutoff.

But well, on a slightly chilly Sunday Morning of 4th Jan 2009, when that light pink shaded paper comes into your hand, possible cutoff is the last thing you should be worried about...seriously....

As for DI, here are a few tips

1) NO MATTER WHAT....DO NOT PANIC
2) READ THE QUESTION....AGAIN....AND THEN AGAIN
3) NO EGO ISSUES, IF THIS BALL WAS A BOUNCER, FINE, YOU CAN ALWAYS SEND THE OTHER ONE FOR A SIX
4) BIGGEST THING...IF U THINK ANSWER IS JUST ROUND THE CORNER DO NOT WASET TIME LOOKING FOR IT

And I will also enlist the assistance of a DI God that we have in our batch in GIM....He got 100%ile in XAT DI and I personally assure you that I will bully him into posting tips....or else his Marketing grade, which partly depends on me....will not be anything to write home about!!!!

Just an Update.

We have talked to GIM admissions.

As of now, the XAT pattern for last year will be followed.

Which means NO SECTIONAL CUTOFFS FOR GIM

for me it is ICSE but after selecting science from drop down box the label to be filled becomes in active (cursur doesnt blink there )

Yeah You have asked a very good question because Decision making is one of the things that sets XAT apart from the CAT.

Your question is very global so the answer will also be equally vague...just try and gather what I am trying to say...

In XAT decision making, IDEALISTIC decisons need to be made.

For example if you have to decide between giving a bribe and incurring a huge loss...your decision will be to incur the loss but never give bribe no matter what.

During XAT decision making questions, don't go for the PRACTICAL decision but the ideal one.

When torn between two decisons, take the one which is more gentlemanly that shrewd...

XAT decision making is no very time time consuming...to the practiced eye, a person who is in tune with the life philosophy of the paper setter, will quickly see the answer.

During decision making do not try to apply your brain, your values, your thoughts....insead ry and conjencture what might have been going on in the mind of the paper setter when he creaed this question, what is he trying to convey....and when you think in this manner decision making will be pretty easy....Even though I do not know how many I got right during the XAT 2008.....
