Hi Senthil,

See these " so many arrears until such and such semester " rules are enforced by companies when they recruit.

For B Schools the rule is very simple, no matter how many backlogs and arrears and Keep Terms you might have had, all you need to do is complete ALL your degree requirements by a certain date specified by the school. For Eg GIM has some date in July or August by which you should be done with your degree. Many of my batchmates actually went back for some of their remaining papers scheduled by college authorities during the term and competed their engineering.

So as long as you can pull more than 50% and surely finish the degree by that cutoff date, you are absolutely eligible.

Regards
Snape

Hello All,

Inthis year's XAT notification the Exam pattern is not discolsed, so we can think that it might change and add another surprise element to the XAT?

Thanks,
Manan

As we have been saying again and again, any time you can expect a surprise in XAT. Just dont expect it to be simple or difficult; dont expect it to have GK or not have it...

Just dont expect anything. Go with a clear mind and deal with the paper as it is.

Regards,
Manan.

Yeah, the speculation about the surprise element...

I cant agree more with Manan....change is the only constant so enter the bull ring of the exam with an absolutely open mind...

Remember what CAT did in 2007?

Everyone went in expecting another set of surprises and CAT zapped us all with a very different surprise.....that there was no surprise at all. The pattern of the paper was DITTO 2007!!!!

Off the topic but I think worth adding, XAT will never let go of its fixation of Vocab. So Vocab worth minimum five marks is bound to be there. And instead of the donkey work of reading the dictionary for vocab prep, just flip through the 100 odd "Latin Roots" of english words....once you know the meaning of a root, you will know the meaning of roughly every word stemming from the root. It is something that will multiply your vocab in a few days..no kidding....

Eg - If you know Ignis means fire....you will hardly ever make a mistake in a word in which IGN comes, and rest options will come to your rescue...

So moral of the story, a lot stands to be gained by preparing for sure shot things than sweating over the mysteries......

Cheers
Snape

Very valid point raised by Professor Snape .

Well I dont think this is necessary (as many of you already know this) but if you want to learn this(root thing and all), then one of the best books is "Word Power by Norman Lewis"

I did it myself and yea it helps...

All the best to all...

Another more powerful book, if you want to learn word origins, through little historical/mythological anecdotes is: All about words. (Authors: Nurnberg and Rosenblum)

Inexpensive, easily available, and easy to understand - this book is fun to read too. Try it!

In addition, try 'How to read better and faster' by Norman Lewis. I improved my reading speed to about 500-600 words per minute (from about 350 words per minute) after reading this book.
