I am indedd happy to see you on this thread with your old username and I wish you get the admission in SIOM and guide the future aspirants of SIOM on PG with this very username.
By the time, new batch wil come, most of the seniors would have passed out. So. you won't be able to meet them!
It's difficult to comment on the chances, but yes with more amount of work-experience plus a quality award going your way, your chances should increase. All the very best! | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to varun.jindal For This Useful Post:

Hey thanks!
Varun, you are speaking like D&G... I still remember those lines when he had told the same last year.
How good is SIOM for HR guys. I am taking in an obtuse turn by changing my area of expertise from quality which I am into now to HR. "I have never been hurt by what I have not said" Thanks and regards ------------------------ Kushaal

In my opinion, it's good to diversify. I have done my BE in Electronics & Communication, then had almost 2 years of work-ex in IT and now doing MBA in Operations. Being having shifted to HR in my opinion won't decrease your chances in any way. Rather, it may be expected to have positive outcome!

Coz its been servering as Ops major. So how good to core the HR at SIOM?? At the curriculum it looks it would be just a specialization elective. SIOM offers MBA in only Operations and there is no concept of minors & majors. There are electives from Marketing, Finance, HR & IT to choose from. If you are looking for a career in HR only, then you can focus more on XLRI, TISS, SCMHRD etc. Their HR specialization is recognized very well in the industry. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to varun.jindal For This Useful Post:

Chemical engineers would find the area of process management familier. But above all - guys with work-ex in core industries would feel very comfortable with it. But even guys with IT background (education/work-ex) have been taking operations with great interest. IT guys with work-ex don't want to take Systems as majors and take Ops instead, as it is a good value addition. My personal opinion: If you don't have industrial work-ex, keep your optins open in deciding about Operations as majors. There are some profiles which we can see and say: welcome! Freshers should be very sure about their interest before taking up Ops.... Although in our batch there are few freshers, yet I feel this time you may expect some change. However, what I have observed is that all the freshers had a SNAP score of over 70. So, your chances of getting shortlisted depends on your profile (including consistent performance in academics) and to compensate for work-ex, you need to score high in SNAP. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
