May be you check this out with guys on other thread within this forum. All I can say is "Core Banking" will be responsible for technical part of functioning of bank while "Banking Operations" guy will have to take care of actual implementations of actions suggested by management across different branches.
You might even like to search for this on net or check with any core finance guys...Since you said you were interested in banking sector, I had assumed you might have knowledge about these things If you wana come second... just follow me

Thanks.. | Hi there...whoever told you that Ops Mgr "get" jobs in Consultancy firm in Retail, CRM, ERP, etc. is right, but I dont know what made you assume that these were the only fields where Ops Mgr. opt for. If you thinking these were the only fields where Ops Mgr get jobs then you are wrong. We get offers from all kind of industries IT, ERP, CRM, Banking, Consultancy and still the major chunk of people opt for mfg. industry. Any and I mean ANY mfg. company you can think of are in need of operations manager. So with 1 yr of workexp in PPC, your idea of getting into Operations Management can land you with a very fruitfull job in mfg. industry for sure. So be assured of that. All the best!!! Thanks.. | Hi,
adding on to wht Sree told u, Ops managers are openly welcomed towrdds manuufacturing industries... however u need to understand tht if u are looking at packages to the tune of 7lac+ form the manufacturing sector then u need to rework ur thought process... cause the truth of the matter is till now manufacturing firms have been unable to make the cut with most of the SIOM students as most are inclined to better packaages which they do get in other sectors... but some companies so apy well so people do opt for the manufacturing sector if the pay is decent....
however the highest pay cheques comes from manuf consultancy firms in SIOM... so if u are interseted to stay put to ur field with better package too then u can opt in this direction...
But then consultancies require a greater work exp thn 2 yrs which u are lacking,,, so make wise decision...
all the best

Your profile seems to be very good. So appear for SNAP and apply to SIOM... rest will be decided when GD/PI shortlist is out
