First of all i am in wailist of selected candidates for SIOM Nashik.
From March till now my number came down from 69 to 5.(General category)
There is one more list going to be released on 25th May. This time im expecting that I would be there in.
I desperately wanted to join in SIOM.
but as said, the college will start from june 1. If i get a call on 25th, 5 days will not be sufficient for me to come there and join. as I am working and i my minimum notice period is 1 month. Will that be OK if i join late?
One more Q. there are 72 general seats I guess and my waitlist number was 69 at first. Now it came down to 5. That means 64 people didnt turn up for SIOM? do havea ny idea why this happened? or my calculation is wrong?
hey! i am sorry if i have wrote any thing wrong.
I wanted to know how placements are going this 2009.
Please dont mind and reply to my queries..
Thanks

Hii Harika!!
I guess my gd-pi slot was on the same day with u...and my director's PI was immediately after yours..Hey, feel comfortable to ask questions..this forum is for that only..
First of all, congrats for getting through!! Lemme start answering ur queries:
Regarding the job notice period of one month : I guess you may loose one month's salary if you don't give a "one-month's" notice. But other than that, there should be no difficulties in leaving your job and joining SIOM from the first week of june. Talk with your HR Dept at work..they'll guide you better about it.
Also, you can call up the SIOM Admissions dept and ask them for some extension for you to join the college. That's something I'd suggest you to do in case if it's difficult for you to leave job and join on 1st. Since the college authorities also know that leaving the job and joining an insti in 5 days is a difficult task, I guess they should be cooperating.
Regarding your question about the waitlist movement, hey - such huge waitlist movements take place at all colleges. The IIM-A waitlist goes up till WL-30. this means 30 ppl don't take up admission in IIMA (probably they're IIT'ians and have got plum job offers already). SIIB waitlist for general category is at waitlist-84 or so right now.(for 120 seats). Narsee Monjee waitlist has gone till WL-400 (for their 255 open seats). So, this is a normal trend. Nothing to worry or feel sceptical about - as to why people are not opting for admissions.
As regarding the placement scenario, i am not a person who can talk on that. Perhaps a senior would be a better person to answer on this.
But in general, the placement scenario has been affected in all colleges this year. However, most of the good colleges are almost nearing 100% placements.
p.s. you already have a good job with a top IT firm if i remember correctly...plz counsel with seniors and some professionals whether you would like to leave the job and do an MBA..
