You have a good rank.You should definitely apply to VGSoM.Generally,VGSoM does not consider sectional cutt-offs.So you have a chance.

As you have 2.5 years of work ex, so defnitely you will have edge over the freshers in the placement process.The laterals are not held seperately.As u must be knowing that VGSoM has a unique 6-month summer training programme so students with prior work ex may be considered by their internship companies for lateral recruitment.Here work ex people definitely get better pay packages than the freshers.

VGSoM is known for its distinguished faculty in comparison to all other IIT B-schools.In addition,faculty of other IIT departments are also participants in the MBA programme.

Do you think there would be any significant difference in cut-offs for GEN and OBC candidates???

I have 2 years workex and a rank of 1705 in JMET in OBC cat. DO I stand a realistic chance of getting a call?

Hello seniors,

I guess for 2007-09 batch the strength was around 120 but 2008-10 it got reduced to total of only 80 students currently persuing the course (Correct me if I am wrong).

Can you please let us know wat will be the total strength this year as based on that we can have some rough idea?

also do i stand a chance with 1343 rank and 2.5 years of work ex?

As we said earlier there is no fixed intake number, it will depend
on how well the people who apply perform...last time calls were
given to ranks upto 1000, so your chances are little on the lower side
but do apply...

Does VGSOM give profile based calls? Are factors like work ex, acads etc. considered at the time of giving calls or only in the interview?

VGSOM gives calls on the basis of the rank obtained in JMET. Factors like work ex, academics are considered only at the time of the interview. Also your SOP plays a very significant role during the selection process.

Hi All,

I wrote Jmet for the first time. I have no idea of any rank-college mapping. I have got a rank of 2056 . I have 3.5 years of experience in IT with 1 year managerial experience and Do i have any chance in VGSOM? I have good academics also (90/90/80) and am involved in some extra curricular activities also.
