okay sirjee... i thought that at least the decision of the no of seats would have been conveyed to u... but i guess that the profs are determined to give a surprise.. hope it turns out to be a pleasant one.... So nothing to be done now till 15th except for keeping the fingers crossed....

like:
1. Profiles offered
2. Packages (avg , median,lowest,highest).
3. Companies coming for lateral placements.

Hi Zephyr.....

I would like to clear here what is so called "lateral Placements"...It is when your previous work ex is given weightage in the organization and you are given a position and compensation based on that ....That is called lateral placements...

For the packages you need to wait for the official placement report....

Almost all the companies coming for placements at VGSoM offered lateral placements to students...For the detailed list of the companies you need to wait for the official report ....

Hope it clears your notion about lateral placements ....

As this is the first time I am going to check my final results for MBA at IITs, I would like to ask you a few questions regarding the final calls:
1) Do the IITs follow a pattern similar to the IIMs, who give a final call to more people in the first list than the number of seats, and then if required, go for the waitlisted people?
2) How much of an overlap of candidates takes place usually among the IITs in terms of final calls? Please suggest me an approximate number, so that all the fellow JMET aspirant Puys can get an idea.. From this, we guys will be able to figure out whether there is going to be any W/L movement. or not.

Comparison between colleges is not allowed in PG. Take an informed decision based on a number of parameters like infrastrucutre, faculty, placements, alumni, seniors....

I personally would have selected VGSoM.

Hi Arnab,

I completely understand your concern and apprehension as you are undergoing the selection process at IIT's for the first time. But let me make it clear that the selection process, number of final calls (overlap of calls), wait listing etc differ from one IIT to another. If you have observed the trend in the previous years, it has been seen that usually the wait listing pattern varied with few IITs like VGSoM and SJMSoM. Last year, we had issued overlapped calls (Cannot give the exact number) and we had not released any wait list.. So people who have confirmed their call from the first and final list have been admitted. Though the batch strength is 120, it was not a requirement on part of VGSoM to fill all the seats, hence we have restricted only to the first list. So on the whole my point is that there is no particular pattern that the IIT's follow in consensus. The decision is solely on the faculty who are looking after the admissions for that particular academic year. The information for the wait list and total number of calls can be disclosed only after the first list is released.
