Which IITs should i apply to?

Do I have a chance of call from VGSOM?

My rank is 437 and i have 40+ months of IT work experience...
I did Mechanical engineering from Delhi College of Engineering....

I am currently earning close to 6.5 lakhs p.a.
Do you think it makes sense to apply in VGSOM KGP as even if I dont do MBA and switch job once more, i will be earning close to 9 in next two years...
Can VGSOM offer me a Job profile suited to my work experience?

I know its a very subjective question. but I still want to know the general view regarding this....

Hi Vikas

Last year average placement of VGSOM stood at 11.44 lakh and median at 10.32.

But in your case as you said you have package of 6.5 lakh and can get offer close to 9 lakhs. So If you could perform better than the maximum student you may get a good offer.A median 10.32 means half of the people are getting less than that. The figures of average will depend on the methodology calculation.(I have heard that in some colleges if a person is getting 2 offers say 6 lakh and 7 lakh, while calculating average they may take his offer as 13 lakh(6+7)). So averages are sometime deceptive.

Also there is a CTC factor attached to offers made in Bschools. CTC factor are those which are not paid to employee in any form.It is possible for an offer 10 lakh made ,there is a CTC factor of 2-3 lakh.This informations I got from pagalguy itself.

If money is the only reason for you to apply to VGSOM then you are taking a risk as future is unpredictable. But if you want to do an MBA to accelerate your carreer , VGSOM is one of the best places to land as IIT's have best department for Systems specialization.
