I will be giving NMAT for d first time dis year...so need sum help!!!
as mentioned earlier dat der r 240 seats including 15% management quota, i want 2 knw as i hve heard dat der's also sum gujju quota so how many seats 4 general category ppl r der?
another thing does NMAT has GK section? (plz be sure as sum1 above mentioned it does not)..
ok regarding work-ex...i jus wanna know dat i am helping my dad in his business so can dis account to work-ex? i finished my grads in 2007 bt hv been helping my dad 4 d past 4 yrs..shud i see dis as my work-ex?
so plz help me regarding above doubts...

@Al_coholic: The gujju quota thing has been away with since the batch of 2005 (if I am not too mistaken). So the general seat number remains at 204.
You can present your stint at your father's business as your work experience. It counts. but you need to be thorough about your business and the work that you were doing there. But it carries weightage in your GDPI round.

And GK was not there till the last year. SO you can expect it on similar lines.

The work experience which you stated counts only if you are able to produce the payslips for the last couple of months/years i.e., from the time you are working in your father's office.

But to be frank the work experience count's only after your graduation and not before that.

Hello Puys,

NMAT is a relatively easier on the difficulty levels. However, due to immense competition the cutoffs soar high hence becomes a tough nut to crack.

EU is relatively simpler than CAT. You need not prepare specifically for NMAT just prepare for CAT. Preparation for CAT would suffice however you need to concentrate more on time factor in NMAT.

On an average we have 70% work experience candidates. Work experience of more than 1 years is taken into consideration. Anything less than a year of experience is discounted. Also any experience prior to completion of graduation is also discounted.

hi,
let me answer ur question..
there is no gujju quota.. but there is some preference for gujjus as ihave heard.. u can also see that .. in the form where they wil ask u either u r from gujrat or do u know gujrathi..
There is NO GK in the NMAT paper...(believe me)

as per about ur work ex. u can show it ..
but u sud be knwing in and out of the business n sud be able to convince them of tht.. otherwise ... u might be in soup...
so play be wisely..

i will xplain only abt wrk ek thing as ur all other queties have been answered satisfactorily...

For wrk ex:
U r helping ur father ...and dis cud be counted as wrk ex..but wrk ex means any form of wrk ex after completing ur graduation...pull time paid...so if u show ur wrl ex in u dads biz..u need to be paid full time ...and it will be counted after 2007 (since u finished ur grads in 2007)..so ur total wrk ex cant b 4 yrs..even if ur wrking for last 4 yrs...it will b total months after compeltion of grdas..

hi to all....
i have a few queries regarding NMIMS....
but firstly a brief intro about myself....I am taking up NMAT for the 2nd time this year.Last yr I scored 76:2gunfire: with decent breakups in all 3 sections.I have just about an average acads n no extra-curricular to boast abt....

the queries I have are::
1. I know the cut-off for last yr was 85 which was arnd 2100 rank....I want to knw wat was the total score and rank which got selected...??
2. the GD,PI & work Ex. are scaled on 10,10,10 basis.....but how is work ex actually evaluated....I would have a work Ex of nearly 20 months in IBM Global at the time of GD/PI....how much wud that be of value???
3. Wat is the minimum salary excepted of 2008 pass out??
4. How is the scope for a person aiming for HR?? wat r the other courses which are prefered??

cant think of anything more as of now......thanx a lot in advance...

dunno the xact last rank which got selected...but i guess...final merit rank of 430-435 got admission (i.e. widout mngmt quota)..as far s rank jump i concerned....one person has intial rank of arnd 1600 nd his final rank was arnd 450-460..so if u perform well in gd/pi...ur rank will surely jump...

s far s i know the selection procedure for NMIMS keeps changing every yr i.e. der is no gurantee that next yr 10,10,10 fromat wud be followed...it may change...20 months of wr ek wud be gud...but nothing like very big advantage...coz our batch has got 70% wrk ex ppl and many wid over 3 yrs of wrk ex..

Placement hasnt been done for 2008...so cannot comment on tat..once 2008 placemnets r over..placement report wud b put on d website...

scope for HR is gud..Courses offered r Fin, Mktin, Ops nd Hr...preference depends on an individual..though we hav max ppl in Fin nd Mkting..it completely depends on ur interest..

der is no book specifically for nmat reasoing which u shud follow..reasoning was easy last yr...u can follow reasoing books given by the CAT coaching intitutes such as TIME, IMS etc...i guess those books wud be enuf..u can also refer reasoning by Arun Sharma....may b Barons also..
