does NMAT have GK in it?
This is the first time im planning to give NMAT..can someone tell me if it has GK?

temme.. that did you do special prep i.e. refering to specific course material or something for the NMIMS exam. Or was it general CAT prep.
I've got 2 yrs workex.. wanting to go for MBA however unable to score well in CAT . Please advise

Yes, NMAT has a section on GK. Dont remember the exactt no of quesitons in it, but I think 20 or 30.

The level of GK isnt very high, if you keep an update of the current affairs then I guess it shouldnt be a problem i.e. reading newspaper daily.

There is no GK in the NMIMS .. as far as i m concerned.. last year it was not there.. year before that it was not there...
please guys hav a background check before u say anything coz .. ppl out there are expecting us knowing everything.. n we can't confuse them or give out wrong info.. if not sure.. pleae ask here...

Hi , there are 204 seats for general ( till last year) 36 management quota...
ratio of work ex to fresher .. hmm it depends in my class if i m not wrong -- it might 30 % fresher to 70% exp.. but thats not the full picture... guys from other section may hav diferent.. ratio..

last year.. the negative marking was .25 per question .. but it may vary this year.. it will be made clear in the information broucher...

If my memory serves me right...
NMIMS being a private institute doesnt have any reservation based on caste....they have a total of 240 seats in the core programme out of which 15% i.e 36 are reserved for management quota(ppl applying for this too have to clear NMAT though)
generally ppl with relatively lower final ranks (read 400+) are the ones going for management seats...
So although there is some kind of reservation still the quality of students is pretty good....

as far as negative marking is considered it was -0.25 i suppose....

the mix of freshers and work ex. ppl question can be answered better by NMIMS students

PS:Believe me the level of competition for NMAT is pretty tough....i personally know of a couple of friends studying in IIMs who couldnt clear

well first of all lemme start with this... NMIMS is a cool place to be... no unnecessary pressure... particularly after new dean and new curriculum structure... lots of time to pursue ur interests and participate in its funfilled activities...

we are nearing the end of our first Trim... 18th sep is the last exam... and then summer interviews... ah wont write further here considering the purpose of this thread...

as for the queries so far (Not in oreder asked):-
1> No GK
2> NO reservations just Mangement quota seats and open seats
3> NMIMS is a university and MBA program is run under the name "School of management studies"
4> Hostel or no hostel depends upon ur choice and avaialability. But lots of place to live around in approx the same cost. I am not a hostelite.
5> for work ex... yaar as the MBA craze or demand (whatever term u like) is growing people with an average work ex of around 1.5to 2 years are making the prominent crowd here. but we have a lot of freshers. Dont go by nos... go by conviction... if u feel u can do it... then u can certainly go for it... to further alleivate ur doubts ... many companies from finance sector look for freshers during final placements... but please donot take it by swear... there are different comps with different profiles...

I am putting it down here... i think it was more than u can digest now...

please put in ur further queries we all will field it here for ur good... hehehe we all love cricket.. lol

Guys a lot has been said on the importance of written marks in NMAT and honestly they are true to every word. Freshers do have to overcome a 10 marks gap (reserved for work ex) by putting up brilliant performance. And just to add, your acads play a huge role in your PIs(specially for freshers). So just pulls up your strings.. Remember its never easy to get into a top notch B School and every insti play by their own rules.. Love it or Hate it .. its unavoidable...

Regarding the question pattern of NMAT: Its on the similar lines of SNAP and FMS (english much more easier).. but speed is what you need.. and one more thing that candidates should make note of is: last to last year the cut off was around 65, our time it shot up to 85 (with sectional cutoffs) and with no intention of frightening you , my roomie with a score of 90 did not get a call 'coz he failed to clear the sectionals in one. So, however low, they are you need to clear them.. And you never know when the insti increases for the number of aspirants are increasing day by day.. So please take the test very seriouly... Its the only advantage you can lever on 2nd round....
