Hi Shankla
Its not a bad idea to apply once the SNAP test is done. It will give you an idea about your expected score and which colleges to apply.
Last year SIBM GD/PI was conducted only in Pune. This year its yet to be decided. I'll let you guys know about the centres through this thread once decided.

Hi Vicky
Have confirmed the detail.
If you give snap this year, you would have to clear your backlogs and complete your engineering by the time the college starts with a total BE %age of more than 50%.
Hope I have answered you.

Hi all,
I have a few queries regarding MBA from SIBM, hope I get relevant answers from fellow puys.
1. I want to specialize in finance (venture capitalism, I-Banking et al). What are the prospects in doing the MBA from SIBM (either of the branches).
2.Regarding the quota for kashmiri migrants, its usually mentioned as 2 seats per programme. What I infer from this is, if there are 'n' programmes running simultaneously in SIBM, then the total number of seats allocated to them is 'nX2', am I being right in supposing this? What does 'nX2' actually come out to be?
3. If and when I clear SNAP and following GD/PIs, I should have 14 months of experience in software domain. Would I be considered for laterals? In one of the posts, I read that different companies have different criterions. But speaking rougly, what percentage of companies would consider me for laterals? I am a certified green belt also.
A big thank you in advance.

Hii Suhas
1) SIBM does offer Finance as specialisation which does cover the topics that you have mentioned. As regards prospects SIBM Pune over the years have shown exceptional placements for finance offering students a wide range of roles and profiles. Similarly things look very promising with SIBM-B as well.
2) The 2 seat Kashmiri quota is the total number of seats for the whole MBA program offered through SNAP. It is over and above the intake of 150 students at SIBM-Bangalore. Your supposition regarding nx2 is incorrect. there are only 2 seats reserved for the program.
3) As you rightly understand different companies have different criterions for lateral placements. Cant give you a figure as possible number of companies that may consider you for laterals as it is highly subjective. It clearly depends on company's recruiting policies. All i can say is any work experience would definitely act as an advantage and if you have exp in a particular sector and u sit for an org working in a similar sector ur work ex wud definitely give you a cutting edge over others. Any relevant certifications is certainly a bonus and adds value to your profile during placements.
Hope I have answered your queries. Wish you all the very best.

Hi Guess this is the one you are referring to.
MBA CAT SNAP NMAT JMET CET FMS IIFT GDPI* Workshop Mumbai
Its actually being conducted by a pvt.coaching institute.
None of the Symbiosis Institutes or the Symbiosis International Unviersity actually conduct workshops for SNAP. So no workshop as such happening here. However you are free to post any queries regarding the test on this thread and you can definitely expect all the possible help from us.
Alternatively, If you are a bangalorite, You many visit the SIBM Campus in Electronic City. The Staff and the students here would be more than happy to guide you.

Hi Vijet,
Regarding GK, Keep going through the updates and be be abreast of the latest events and happenings through Newspapers, Magazines. That should hold you in good stead to deal with the GK section.
Regarding strategy, I would suggest try and solve mock question papers from various coaching institutes, the pattern is dynamic and keeps changing year on year. So no 1 strategy can be termed best.
Always attempt the sections that you are most comfortable with, but also remember it is essential to display proficiency across all sections. Hence manage your time in a way such that you devote appropriate time to each of the sections. Look for easy scoring opportunities (last year there was a ection in DI wherein each question carried 2marks with moderate level of difficulty. All other sections carried 1 mark each). Mock papers is the key and will give you confidence and you would be able to plan a strategy of your own.
