Also I was kinda of surprised to see SIIB way below SIBM Bangalore in PG rankings!!

Any suggestion on that?

P.S :- I know we have rankings to compares B-schools and these threads are totally inappropriate for that. Its just i am confused as to who and where could i get some information on that and who better than SIBM-B students.
Hi Dipen

The Summer Placements at SIBM-B are underway, however wont be able to divulge any details as of now. In a few weeks time, I would post all necessary information regarding the same.

We students arent really an authority to decide B-School Rankings. So cant really comment on it. But I can tell you what SIBM Bangalore is all about

SIBM Bangalore boasts of a world class infrastructure with a fully residential campus. It is strategically located in the IT Hub of Electronics city in Bangalore. SIBM Bangalore has a very vibrant faculty full time and visiting, who carry with them decades of experience in both Industry and Academics and are truly comparable to some of the top b-schools of the country. As you may know this is the 1st year of inception, we do not have placement figures to speak about, but things look very promising with the kind of academic rigour, assignments, live projects, Guest Lectures, Industry exposure that one gets at SIBM-B.

I would like to share our Director Prof. Pankaj Gupta's vision and plans for the college. Please visit Speech - Director

Firstly, I must say that a great PR job is being done by the students of SIBM-B. Hats-off! I'm saying this because I'm sure there must be a number of other aspirants who were not really sure about the new baby of SIBM. My point of view (and of many many others, I'm sure) prior to the analysis of this thread, was whether the new institute will be able to keep-up with the standard of the flagship institute, and now, post analysis of the thread, I'm pretty much sure that the number of SIBM-B applications will many-fold this time. Great job indeed!

Now my question and concern: I have an average acadamemic background;
X-73%
XII-71%
Grad-73%(BMS)

After my graduation, instead of opting for MBA immediately, I took a full-time job in Mumbai and after getting my back-side whipped I realised that completing MBA is far better than getting hooked-up in a lower level job. So after only 3.5 months I quit my job (some 40 days before SNAP), believing that with some effort I'll be able to crack the tests and came back to prepare myself for the entrance tests.

Keeping my fingers crossed I do well!

I know 3.5 months experience is nothing, but my question to you, with regard to what you wrote, is: will the short span of my job create some "negative" impression on the interviewers(if I reach that level). You also talked about developing some passion, or hobbies, so can I get a little help in the same regard as well.

Regards,
Nitish Kumar

P.S. I'd love to study in that gorgeous campus of SIBM.
Hi Nitish

Your comments regarding our work is much appreciated and is very heartening to know that you want to be a part of the SIBM Family.

Your Academics are pretty good.Any work experience is always an advantage albeit for a short time. There is no connotation attached to short experience span as such. Interviewers do tend to question aspirants about their work -experience, but as long as you are honest and can justify what are your reasons for leaving the job and what you have learnt from your experience and link it to your future plans, It would definitely not hamper your chances one bit. As regards hobbies, it would add to your personality. So just relax. Carry on with your preparations for SNAP and the GD/PI procedure and dont worry about anything else.

Hope I have answered your queries.

Wish you all the very best.

Hi Vicky

You can apply to SIBM-B if your entire B.E %age is above 50.

Also regarding work experience, only work-ex after the completion of graduation would be considered during the admission process. So you would need to decide whether to take up a job now or go about completing your graduation.

Cant really comment on which colleges to look at juss by looking at your acads. Try giving some mock tests through coaching institutions to test your level of competency, you would then be able decide what colleges you can target.

Hi Vicky

Your mock test scores seem pretty good. Try and maximise your performance in the coming days. I am posting the last year cutoffs for symbi colleges. This would give you a fair idea of which colleges to apply to.

SIBM -Pune and Bangalore -85/180 with sectional cutoffs
SCMHRD - Profile based calls (higher the snap score better the chances)
SIIB- 78/180- no sectional cutoffs.

As reiterated earlier Your SNAP score and GD/PI performance would hold more importance than your acads. So try concentrating on them.

Hi aspz

As per the Calender for the next year the Final merit list is to be displayed on 9th march '09 and the payment of the 1st instalment is to be done by 23rd March '09. This is however just tentative dates and is subject to change.

Last year we had to pay Rs.1,10,00 during the first instalment, however next year there is an increase in the fees and the details would be communicated to you

I am feeling that i should apply to all the SNAP related colleges only after giving SNAP on 21st Dec as all the institutes are having their last date in 1st week of Jan...

Also i wanted to know that the GD PI will be conducted in Bangalore only or there are various other centers like Delhi or so??...
