With OBC reservations coming into play, its difficult to tell exact number of seats before the official announcement, but we have a batch strength of 63 for batch 2010. this time seats might be close to 75.

In 95% cases, rank is the only criteria for calling a candidate, but for remaining 5% profile calls are also given. Profile may include work ex, the job profile ,academics, extra curriculars.

hey, last ranker to be called at IIT Roorkee had 50 odd marks in JMET written test and had rank of around 1700 odds.......... Final conversion occured for JMET rank of 1649..
As far as OBC is concerned the official stats were not disclosed last time because intially there were no OBC reservation....

Even then i would check with officials and get back to you ........

Its difficult to tell at this moment of time, maybe we can discuss once the JMET result is out......
Current projections according to PUY poll, i think it would require 65+ on safer side

I had applied as a general candidate, however as per the revised norms I fall under the OBC category :1eye:
Although I've dropped a mail to the admin regarding the query, can seniors guide me if it is possible now to change the category?

You must not worry about it.. While applying to IITs seperately you will be asked to refill the category. It will not be an issue.

I am not the right person to comment at this stage, but the situation is bit dicey looking at the poll results, I would still recommmend you to wait for 5th January, may be after looking at the results the situation would be clear. Hope for the best...... Keep up the spirits, you are not out of the race yet..

Last year I had a rank of 1579 and I got a call from IITR. Don't think work-ex is relevant at this stage, But it will sure come in handy in next stage.

As prateek has already said, it will be difficult to predict at this stage, but going by what coaching institute guys are saying, you are a borderline case and also do not forget that neither these keys are not official nor these guys have a say in admission process. So do not lose hope because of these keys, keep the faith.
