Ranks upto which institutes gave calls for JMET 2008
IIT Bombay (SJMSOM) - 345 odd rank
IIT Delhi - 400 odd rank
IIT Kgp - 990 odd ranks (profile based calls were exceptions)
IISc - 823 (Not included now)
IIT Madras - 1357 (Not to sure but was on similar lines)
IIT Kanpur -1600 odd
IIT Roorkee - 1680 odd
Hopefully these help to the candidates!!
But trend may change as IIT are gaining positions in the B-School Rankings, so probably we could find more people applying to IITs.

Hi srikant,
if you don't mind, can you tell us the source of this info?
Because, I have heard a rumour: One of my friends told me this abt a particular Top-10 Bskool (no names): He said " For calculating Median/average salary they add the salary of all offers a student gets and this way the Average increases... Is this true for any B-skool?

well..
This info is pretty much correct as far as many B-schools are concerned. there was also an article on Pg regarding the same, but keep in mind that the MBA at IITs is basically for engineers. Rest assured, the data here is pretty accurate.
Then again, dnt take my word for it

Most of the "other exams" require you to pep up your speed. You can focus on this aspect till your CAT. One of the ways could be to judge your percentiles in various mocks as per their easiest sector. Like suppose QA is easy in one of the mocks then if you are scoring decently in easiest sections of mock then you can do well in these "other exams".
For JMET, though higher maths is required but it is not indispensable for cracking the test. On the contrary JMET has tougher maths sections and relatively easier LR and Eng sections and only some minimum marks are required in all the three sections like being in top 50%ile section-wise (just an eg) as against showing competence in all the three in CAT. So higher maths can wait till CAT.
Hope i answered your query.

Hi Nilesh,
Welcome to PG
As far as preparing for JMET goes, I don't feel there is anything special you have to do apart from what you do for CAT. Just keep up your CAT prep. and for JMET the imp. thing is Speed and Accuracy because as pointed by 'bakar', Questions will be relatively easier than CAT and hence you'll have to get more of them correct.
Now, I feel the Higher Maths concept is somrthing you need not worry abt as if you look at the previous year's paper, you could have easily got past the cut-off for Quant without even touching Higher MAths(for the record, I did... ). So just prepare for CAT and after CAT, focus your energy on JMEt but remember keep working on speed: You won't develop that in the 25 odd days b/w CAt and JMET.
Cheer$

Please check this.... click here
As far as your query is concerned ,no that is not true for us...
I am not in a position to say nor do i have the moral authority to say about other B-Schools
Hope that helps....
