The online application will be available from SEP 8th 2008.
The same is mentioned under Important dates tab.

Hi,
Any inputs regarding the nature of GD/PI (preferably from an IIT chap...who has been thru all the stages)
Since its being conducted in the IITs, my hunch feeling is do they overload with lot of Technical Stuff/ Technical Discussions
& whether the PIs also focus on Technical Aptitude (those boring engg papers).
|
@Bipin
Nope. Its never hard core technical unless you are a fresher.
Then also, they ask you basics of your engg subjects.Never too technical.
So dont worry, as of now just focus in written part.
For reference, you can go through the previous threads for GD/PI at different IITs.

I attened few of iit interviews . , unfortunately i had a feeling that these people tend to look down upon candidates from pvt. engg colleges. So must be prepared o defend yourself through yr extraordinary preparation of technical stuffs coz difficulty of ques will rise inversely with the level of yr college and your acads.....(This is purely a persnol experience no offence meant)
My Struggle has just started again

Fine ...btw i hail from from a govt engg colg only...
but does the JMET rank hold no significance to them?:2gunfire r rathr a candidates chances of fairing well inspite of bad acads & not so good text book knowledge...
i meant are they hell bent upon the technical text book stuff which is past for us (agreed that a basic knowhow cannot be compromised)

Hi,
I would like to point out my exp here bcoz I feel it may clear the funda a bit.
The type of Interview you face depends on the IIT you are going to and then in that IIT, on the panel you get...
I had got the interview call from IIT Roorkee and Kanpur but went for the interview at Roorkee only (Got a call, btw but didn’t join). There I met a senior who told me that he had selected IIT R over K because the IIT K guys were bent on asking him only technical aspects (he had wrked for DRDO for 3yrs ) and he didn’t want to go to a colg that would give him a Technical MBA (acc. To him) and hence he selected IITR. Personally, my intw at IITR didn’t have a single tech question… So it varies from IIT to IIT and also, it also has to be your lucky day (people did give tech intws at IITR ) …
So, don’t worry now, just prepare and you’ll definitely find something when the time comes (you’ve got PG man, you’ll sail through ………….)

this yr i had calls from all iits but unfortunately was not able to convert them....n from my experience i dont think that it makes ny difference whether u r from private engineering college or from govt engineering college.......u yourself think is there any logic behind selecting people from only private college or only engi college??????????
and dude rank do hold most of the significance...it will be only on ur rank that u will be shortlisted for different iit's....
well for technical stuff it depends for different iit's...for iit kanpur if your luck is so bad then may be you will be grilled so much in technical otherwise in other iit's technical stuff asked is generally the basic one...It was my bad luck that i was grilled so much in technical stuff during my iit kanpur interview but for others it was a smooth process and just the basics were asked.....
dont worry abt all this stuff right now just prepare for written exams you will get lods of time for gd pi prep.........

@Bipin... I m from a private engg college in Banglore, but I dont think this was criteria for the PI or my selection @ IIT M
@All.....Had called up IISc and they have confirmed that there are not taking part in JMET from this year. They are re-structuring the programme, details of which will be released soon. Hope this clears the air.

Other than the quant part, JMET may seem easier to most exam takers, for the reason that the other section levels are lower than CAT etc(this again is just my opinion)
Quant can be a pain but last yr there has been a shift away from the higher level math to lower math.
Most coaching classes do give some quant material for JMET preparation. Rest assured, if ur CAT preparation is goin well, this shouldnt be tough

@Mesmarisingstar,
As zubin has said, last year (thats the one I took, so can tell you about it certainly), Quant was smooth. Infact, the prep. for CAT was good enough for JMET too. You needed no higher maths to clear Quant cut-off, English was comparitvely (to any top level exam) quite easy and DI was fine.
So just prepare for CAT, JMET will take care of itself. And from last year I can tell you this, in JMET, Speed and accuracy matter. There are a lot of questions, pick the easy ones and move on. Don't get stuck.
The prob with me that occured was i left veryu little time for DI and attempted only 5 Q in it but since my score was good in English and Quant, rank was just within the range. So, SPEED and ACCURACY ...
