ur queries...
1) last yr they called upto about rank 450, this yr its surely gotta go lesser.at the end of the process marks in written,gd,pi are added up so u hv slightly better chance if u score a very good rank...but considering the cutoff ranks, 300 doesnt seem to give u much leverage
Also, good rank is a factor but not a decisive one for ur selection at the end of the day
2) the intake is 75, u can determine the ratio urself.
Avg workex....varies frm year to year...our batch its abt 2 yrs
3) again depends, if ur a fresher, they might question u on techcnical...for workex ppl interview is mostly on work exp,general awareness,etc
4) The best cos lined up for summers are top FMCG firms, and marketing profiles are being offered by most of them

I am not very comfortable with higher level quant, please tell me what should be my approach while attempting the paper.

JMET 2007 Exam Analysis
u'll get an insight abt the actual paper and cutoffs. however the cutoffs given here are a little on the higher side, esp DI, which was around 7 marks last yr...
again, first jmet shortlists ppl on the basis of cutoffs in individual sections, and then provides ranks, so anybody who gets a rank is eligible to apply in any of the IITs...
as for higher level quant, my personal suggestion is dont worry about it now and continue with ur CAT prep...a week before the exam u can go thru the quant in previous JMET papers, the pattern is not supposed to change much...

hello sharang, i've a bad record in my B.Tech, completed it in 5 years(not 4), got 65% overall, is it a huge neagtive point, do i stand a chance if i perform well in JMET and GD, coz PI i'm not sure what to do if they ask me about this bad B.Tech record. please reply

Hey rohitkji

See it doesnt depend only on academic performance but also on your overall performance (extra currics, communication skills) etc.

Good academics are definitely an advantage and u will most likely to miss that advantage but u can always compensate with other skills esp Good JMET, GD and good PI.

Reasons for ur bad record are best known to you only and if there is a genuine reason like major illness or something like that, u can easily justify that if at all it is asked to u.


My suggestion would be to stop worrying about all this as of now, prepare well for JMET, everything rest will fall in place with due course of time.

hi rohit,
ur %age is not an issue but btech of 5 yrs is a serious drawback...the reason being that acads are stressed on a lot and profs sit in interview panels...
however selection depends on a lot of things, whether any workex and in wat stream, knowledge of fave engg sub; esp in ur case u shud have proper knowledge of ur engg basics...u can challenge the panel and tell them that u know ur subs even though u have poor marks...
also counter ur bad marks with good communication skills...and u wud surely make it

First of all, dnt call us seniors.

There are specialisations offered and it depends on Elective Subjects you choose during course of study.

In current batch, we have people with around two years of work experience and your admission to the programme will depend on ur overall performance in selection process with a certain weightage to work experience. But work experience wont be the deciding factor.
How good it is :
It is very subjective, all i can say is DMS has the best facilities, faculties and there is very little difference in course structure for Part Time and Full Time programmes.Plus you will get a chance to associate with Brand IIT.I wont be able to compare with any other institutes but you will be always happy on your decision of studying in DMS thats for sure, if you decide to study here.

Thank you sharang, god knows what will happen to me, i'm not bad in studies but due to some problems couldn't complete B.Tech in 4 years, i'll try and perform good in JMET and GD, rest i leave to god, coz i can't change back these 5 years back to 4.

frankly speaking i dint attempt any question of higher level quant, if there was any.
Usually there are hardly 3 or 4 questions which u can give a miss, provided that luck is with u.
I dint prepare for Higher level Quant at all but still got 115 rank.

If u can correctly attempt 12 questions, u will mostly(>95 %) clear sectional cut-offs.
