The last rank called at IIT Kanpur for GD/PI last year was around 1600..

For our batch the last rank to be called was appx 1600.

It is just a perception that IIT K has a locational disadvantage.
The fact that IIT K has a really strong alumni network,companies come to the campus willingly.
And moreover, we have state of the art video conferencing facilities as an alternative.
The placements for the senior batch are in the process. 70% of the batch has been placed with diverse profiles in ERP Consulting, finance analyst, IT Consulting, SCM consulting, Risk advisory, Logistics Management and core profiles in marketing and sales.
Students have got their desired work profiles even in this economic slowdown.
We will publish an official report with all the data once the process is over.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Eligibility
A Bachelor’s degree in any branch of engineering or technology (AICTE approved) from a University/Institute with at least 60% of marks or grade point average of 6.0 on a scale of 10.0 in aggregate based on average over whole programme. Candidates with AMIE or similar distance learning qualification are not eligible for this programme. Candidates with Architecture degree can apply provided they have taken Mathematics at 10+2 level.

Candidates from outside India (foreign nationals and non-resident Indians) will be selected on the basis of academic background and work experience.

In this programme, 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates, and 7.5% seats for ST candidates. Such candidates who have passed the basic qualifying degree as stated above are eligible to apply irrespective of marks/ grade point average but should satisfy the eligibility requirement of qualifying in JMET. However, while considering their cases only their suitability for the programme is ensured and they are not compared with the candidates belonging to other categories.

For the year 2009, 18% seats are reserved for those OBC candidates who qualify JMET and who do not belong to the Creamy Layer according to the criteria laid down by the Central Government.

Up to 3% seats are reserved for candidates with physical disability (PD). The reservation to PD category will be applicable to all categories (including General) Horizontally.

Those having applied to IIT Kanpur MBA programme on qualifying the JMET 2009 will be short listed and then invited for a group discussion and interview, which will be held at IIT Kanpur.

If you have passed the qualifying degree you are eligible to apply irrespective of marks/grade points.....

I know the criteria is self explanatory ... bt just wanted a confirmation ... as sometimeback i saw it to be 55% ... maybe a wrong link .. or maybe just my imagination .. whaterver it is ... bt i am really happy to find myself eligible ...

As said repeatedly in this thread the last rank to be called last year was arnd 1600. So u do have defenitely a chance to be called for GD/PI...So do apply.....

Hi seniors,

I have got 2496 as a General candidate. But after the Govt. notification on OBC salary(now 4.5 lac) I am eligible for OBC Non Creamy layer.

I think there wasn't any official announcement by IITK for the submission of OBC certificates as per the new Govt norms as was done by CAT n IIFT.

I want to know how I can avail the reservation.?What documents do I have to produce?
If I can fill OBC as category in the IIT Application form and sent the OBC documents along with it?

I tried calling IITs but they are not responding. I also tried to get the information through mail but no reply.



Seniors please help!!!
