i v managed to bring SoP down to 499 words but still it takes 1.5 pages (extra-curr. i v listed in points) whereas application form says "In an additional sheet, please present (max 500 words)...." does this mean exactly one sheet is to be used for the purpose?

came across a problem while filling up the form for IIT Madras.
it says that we have to attach relevant documents for Work Experience.
I am presently working with a Engineering Consultancy and its my first job. So i don't hv any work-ex certificate as such.

Now, do i need to get a certificate from my present employer ?

Somebody please answer my query. its urgent.

Read on sum other thread, that Salary slip will also do.
Can somebody from the Interface Team answer my query... please..

Do we need to send the docs as self attested copies or do we need to get it attested from a gazetted officer.... Please reply ASAP.... I have to post the form today... also de we need to send the employee letter to them....

Pheww! i always knew i would goof up with so many seemingly similar IIT forms!!

Now here' what i have done:
1) I haven't sent any proof about my employment!
2) Whatever copies of marksheets etc. i have sent, they are not attested!

Can anything be done now? Shall i follow up? Or is it an out and out rejection? Or will they consider me for the call as i will be carrying the original copies on the day of my interview??

P.S.: Why can't all the IITs follow a standardized application format?? Is it something big that we are demanding?

Hi Seniors,

I have filled my SOP form. What should be the heading in the form. It can be in an A4 sized computer printout right?

An is it ok if it goes to two printed pages if its within the word limit?

I think not enough instructions are given to fill up the iitm ,doms form . I have some common queries and some of my own as well. Please reply to my queries at the earliest.

1. Graduating year / class ... wat is the difference ... will it be 2007/2003(example)??
2. overall % - is it avg of percentage of each semester or (total marks obtained/total marks*100) ??
3. Wat document needs to be attested to show work ex ?
4. Documents that needs to be attested :
i) CAT online scorecard (i am applying thru CAT only, dint qualify JMET)
ii) 10th marks card
iii) 12th marks card
iv) All eight semesters marks card
v) Work ex proof.
vi) photograph on the form !

That is a total of 13 attestations!!

5. Each attestation will cost me 50 bucks . (650 for attestations ..
more than the registration fee !! ........ is there a work around ??

Please pardon me if any of these questions seem stupid ....
Also can anyone post an official announcement(link) that iitm is accepting CAT scores even if u have not qualified for JMET ? I know this has been answered a zillion times but it is also mentioned very clearly in the prospectus that one needs to qualify in JMET in the eligibility criteria . Missing something ??

Well, your CAT percentile is good but DI may be an issue. But I would suggest you to apply as the institute may decide not to consider the sectionals. One never knows!

You can fill the first year marks in the space given for first and second semester. I guess this should be fine as you will anyway be attaching all marks sheets. However, no harm in confirming with the admissions office.

I cant understand how these two can be different. But anyway, you can put aggregate percentage, i.e sum of marks in all subjects divided by total number of subjects.
