CF site shows that ranks uptill 2000 got calls last year , is it true

Last Yr IIT M last rank was around 1300 (not sure under which quota)

You hav a fair chance for IIT K but i guess gettin a call from KGP would be tough

I have AIR of 1458..I get mixed messages of previous year cutoff for IIT-M being 1000-110 and in some sites as 2000..
What chance do I stand to secure a seat..
Are their any increase in seats this year considering accomodating extra seats for OBC..

I'm getting 11673 and got qualified in JMET 09. I'm a Physically Challenged candidate. I'm a fresher with acads around 90 in 10th, 12th and grads. What are all the institutes should I've to apply... Do I stand a chance for IIT-D,M Please reply asap. Thanks in advance.

i have no work ex. as i am in final year. also nothing special in extra co-curr... what are my chances....

Yes, u will have a decent change. I will recommend you to apply to IIT M.

@All... THe cut off (last rank to be called) for last 3 year has been:

JMET 2005: 2200+
JMET 2006: 1700+
JMET 2007: 1400+

Given the current market and global scenario, cut offs to be around 1600.


DISCLAIMER: This is just a speculation and should act as an indicator to apply for IIT M. But if u have a different profile from the rest of the applicants then u might get a call till 2000 as well.

Hi,

Let me add a few more things to my earlier post. Last year, IIT Madras gave around 550 calls for 60 seats. However, the seats were later increased to 67 as per the guidelined under the OBC quota. As the increase in intake was to be undertaken in a phased manner, the second quantum of increase will be implemented this year and seats will increase to somewhere around 78-80.

This may be one reason for giving more number of calls this time. Moreover, sometimes institutes decide to call more candidates just to have a wider pool to choose from. This happened in 2006, when IIM L increased its GD/PI calls to 1700.

So, personally I am always in favour of taking a few risks while filling up the forms. Afterall, none of us would like to face the agony of not filling the form and the instutute giving calls beyond our rank.
