hi rohit,
sorry for replyin so late...as per ur Queries
1. As far as i know there is no preference given to gujaratis. But majority of the ppl who do apply to capital markets are gujjus. My batch (2008-10) has 34 ppl with almost 50% gujjus.
2. Ppl with work ex do hav an edge but yes freshers and ppl with work ex in family buss r admitted to capital markets. But you need to perform exceptionally well in ur NMAT...
3. I cant comment on MBA core but in MBA Capital Mkts out of the 34 ppl from the batch of 08-10, 8 are freshers.
i hope i have answrd all ur Qs...incase of ne more Qs will b glad to help u out Quote:

I found this old Indian Express article HC allows NMIMS to admit 50 pc Gujaratis
its dated 1997 so very difficult to say if the same practice is being followed now. Anyhow, I believe being a private institute it's their prerogative to disclose admission policies or not.
I'll be applying all the same. | | | | | | | |

The news is very much true and correct... NMIMS is coming up with a complete new model from next year..... there will not be anything called as traditional or focussed programs from next year..... the first year course for all the MBA grads will be common for the 360 students... And from second year onwards, students will have the complete liberty to choose subjects from a pool of subjects.... so u cud do some finance, some mktg, some global business etc. However there would be some constraints like doing some minimum subjects to masterize in particular domian.... availability of subjects provided some minimum no of students enrol for the subject etc. ..... exact modalities are still not avail but this is a complete restructurization going on in NMIMS to give the students a complete freedom to choose what they want to pursue.... rather than limiting their options and interest at the time of joining the course.....
Complete modalities are yet not out, atleast to my knowledge.... but the overall benefits are really cool.... U dont get narrowed down to a particular stream and have options open until ur one year is over at NMIMS ...

1) marketing
2) finance
3) HR
4) IT
5) Operations
6) global business
7) Services Management
8.) Retail Management
9) Capital Markets
10) Actuarial Science
11) Banking

Complete modalities are yet not out, atleast to my knowledge.... but the overall benefits are really cool.... U dont get narrowed down to a particular stream and have options open until ur one year is over at NMIMS ... so no need to apply separately for NMAT sectoral/ focussed programs like in NMAT 2007, there shall be common NMAT like previously in NMAT 2006.
Best of Luck for NMAT 2008

Karthick V. | Hi Karthick,
There will not be separate exams for core and focused programs. These courses will be merged together and will have a common exam. For details please refer previous post by cutesuny.
