hi sir,
i have read in the last years SCIT application that you will get 10 points if you have 2 years of work-ex
will i get points if i have 1.6 years of work-ex up to december
up to what duration i should count my work-experience because i will have 2 years of experience in jan 2009.

dude.. I am not clear abt how much work ex u shld quote..but if I have been at ur place then I would have quoted my workex till the point I would have been working before joining the insti.....so plan accordingly

hey guys

I am kinda targeting SCIT
I wanted to know the cutoffs for various courses. Website mentions the min as 60 for S/w dev course....are they true figures for 2008 or does it go down/up
My profile is as follows
10: 70%
Diploma(Comp Sci) : 70%
Engg(Comp Sci): 62(with 1 yr gap)
Exp: Currently working as a Business Analyst with Kotak

I would be having 2yrs and 8 months of exp as and when I join the 2009 batch....how useful can it be and do they have lateral placements for candidates with decent work exp

Hey rohit..sorry for late reply buddy.......well whatever is given on website is totally true..afas laterals are concerned..I cant comment on it rite now..bcoz frm this year onwards we are kicking off with laterals..(this is wht i heard frm my peers)...so will update on this front as soon as I get sumthing with me..in mean time u can shoot all other queries related with SCIT...

1.r the placements course specific....or they all courses are treated equal while placements happen
2. needed some more info abt the cutoffs and GD PI rounds
3.n the final n main one.....HOW GOOD IS SCIT???????

Dude.. we are here to sort out junta's queries itself..so no point of u bugging me..so chillax..pour as much as u feel..

Ans#1- Normally during time of plcmt the process is open for all (till they are fulfilling the elgibility criteria n stuff like GPA etc), but it may happen sometimes that certain company comes with openings only for networks guy etc...so it depends from company to company and their need.

Ans#2- At this stage of prepration my only suggestion will be tht focus on ur SNAP prep i.e. try to maximize ur SNAP score, reason being with every passing year the cutoffs are increasing phenomenoly last year it touched somewhere around 80(SNAP score+ other criterias) for ITBM followed by other streams..so u can understand..
once u r through with ur SNAP..we can kick of the GD/PI discussion then..still FYI..there are two GD rounds which are elimination round followed by one pyschometric test (ok ok..no rocket science involed in this) and then shortlisted candidates move for two rounds of interview, one- HR and second for Technical.

Ans#3- Being a student of SCIT I will not give any tall claims about the insti, it is not an Ivy league college, but one thing is sure..if you have flair for IT and want to make it BIG in the field then SCIT is the place to be..I mean no where in India you will find so much specialized courses for IT, so make sure that your goals and ambitions are well alinged once u apply for SCIT bcoz its name says itself- The Premier IT B-School in India..

Well, this is my profile :
10th :82%
12th :74%
B.Sc(Comp sc)(from Symbi itself) : 71%
work-ex= 1 year exact as on today(20 months at the time of joining)

I am working in Infy as ASE(in Hinjewadi ph-II), supporting Java/integration based applications and I am also J2EE certified.

Can Rahul/someone please suggest about some good mock SNAP series or practice material that I can practice upon, as no time for coaching institutes man.

I scored 76 in SNAP 2006 (and still didnt take admssn.!) and am just out of touch and really need some material to practice upon.
