Hi
You should definetly try and get the highest percentage possible in your final year.
1 You will miss out on the chance to take FMS . Thats the first thing that comes to my mind.
2. Secondly, Improving your scores will boost your profile. Since you will be applying as a fresher, you are likely to be judged to some extent on your acads. You can prove to the panel that your past academic record is not an indicator of your true potential. Improved scores in the final year will give you the basis to prove your intelligence to the panel.
3. I respect your passion to get into FMS. But one should also keep other options open. Getting a 60% will also allow you to sit for JMET , which will open the doors to getting an MBA degree from the IITs, some of which have very good programmes
4.. You have a break in your education and your current percentage is not very impressive.I dont know the reasons for the gap of 2 years in your education. Whatever they be , you can talk about learning from your mistakes and improving upon them. Any panelist will see a candidate in a positive light who has tried hard and achieved whatever he wanted.
5.If you choose to take the other path, make sure you are very clear of what you will be doing and how will you go about it.
Hope that helped
