Dont worry. Analyze your performance, and try again. I too was rejected during last year, I did an analysis of my mistakes and prepared well and got admitted this time.
Sometimes its just that GOD is testing your determination/preservance to go that extra mile. God definitely has a better plan for you.
Dont get disheartened. Instead take this as a medicine (It may be bitter but will make you healthy) ATB!

Hi Prasad,
Definitely GOD has sth better planned for you .... whatever has been said above are very much true. In my case also ...i am from Orissa where XIMB is located & we Orissa students have 50% domicile quota. So i was hoping to join that institute, but could nt make it though tried 2 times....So i was also thinking if i can nt make to XIMB with domicile quota, then how can i make into a institute like IIMs, SPJain, MDI & so.....
But i had a belief that whatever happening is happening for good only. & if i didnt get XIMB, then sth better than this is definitely in store for me.....
Now all clear after i made to SPJain GMBA....
So its just how you can keep continuing that matters...Remember most of the people give up chasing their dreams when they fail to realise that they have already covered 90 miles & the destination is only 10 miles away...Its the courage of continuing extra remaining 10 miles which finally pays off.....
So take this +vely ..& i m sure sth better will happen to you.

Hi Vishal,
I am currently located in Hong Kong. I do not normally share my personal mail Id, I hope you understand. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have on this forum as I intend to answer as many questions in the next 2 weeks.
You can probably target the following companies that visit SP JAIN for campus placements ( I am sure there are many more consulting companies visiting campus, I am not too sure about the complete list)
Frost & Sullivan
KPMG
Dunn & Bradstreet
Corporate Executive Board
Arther D little
IBM (technology Consulting)
Accenture Business Consulting
Companies like Bain, BCG, Mckinsey normally hire fresh graduates for the entry level jobs (Associates, research associates) from B-school campus. Most of the laterals (consultants, Sr. Consultants, Managers) are hired off-campus.
I feel you could fit into Consultant , Senior Consultant, Technology Advisory, Business Development kind of roles given you develop the required soft skills and analytical skills.
While you will be at SPJAIN you will be trained well on techniques to tackle Consulting Interviews, some top consultants will visit campus on and off to teach you the "great consulting rope trick". I personally prepared by improving my reading and problem solving techniques. A great way to do that is by focusing on doing case studies and caselets.
A few good online resources:
Vault.com, Economist.com, Ft.com, worldbank.org, fortune.com, Youtube (search for consulting interview on youtube)
A good read:
How to move mount Fuji.
Hope this helps. Quote:

Congratulations on your admission into SP JAIN.
I thank you for your invitation into the google groups you have created for the DEC 08 batch, however i do not see myself contributing much to the group as i am a little tied up with work.
I would be checking this space whenever i find time and would like this space be an open forum for interaction. I hope you will understand when i say that i find it very difficult to find time out of my job at this point when the global corporations are looking at us (consulting firms) for solutions.
Thanks again

BTW, myself got admitted to Dec 2008 intake (WM).
There is an EXCLUSIVE google group I created for SPJCM Dec2008 admits, it would be really great if you could join that group so that Admitted students, including me, can interact with you and clear any pre-joining doubts. Additionally we will get to know about our senior(s). I'll PM you the link, request you to please join.

Congrats for your admission!!
Request you to pls throw some light on the job profiles for Wealth Mgmt specialisation !! ( in detail would be much appreciated ) Well, I was from ITM specialization and may not be able to provide you too much details on the Wealth Management profiles. I know that positions such as Senior Financial Manager, Financial Planning manager, Customer Relationship Manager, Portfolio advisor were some of the roles offered by companies like Citibank Investment Banking, Barclays, ICICI securities, Franklin Templeton Investments.
Not to mention that the above list is not exhaustive by any means.
Also it would be great if you tell the job prospects of WM in Singapore & Dubai. I am currently working in the PAN Asian region and can assure you the the financial sector here has taken a big hit in the last 6 months, having said that Singapore still remains a financial hub and companies like Citibank, Barclays, ICICI bank hire especially from SPJ for their Singapore operations.
Dubai on the other hand is the land of opportunities when it comes to Financial placements, expect loads of offers and good pay here. Quote:

Thanks a lot Jayant!!! Your ideas were really convincing and helpful.
One more Q for you ...Is there any diff or preference the mgmt consulting companies gives to type of MBA specialization?..and Are IT mgmt MBA are only restricted to Technolgy consulting divisions of these companies (like Business Tech division of Mckinsey)
Moreover, just out of curosity did u apply for Bain/Mckinsey/BCG off campus ?...if yes, Is there any ideal time, when one should go applying for these companies during my MBA course?
Thanks,

Hi,
Any updates from anyone who was "Waitlisted - Post Evaluation"?
I suppose this is the last week after which we may get a Regret status.
Can anybody provide some statistical information on number of people who have been offered after being waitlist?
Thanks and Regards,
Ganesh Bhat
