Wait List - Initial Screening
Thank you for the interest shown in S P Jain, Dubai-Singapore’s GMBA (December 2008 intake) program. We are in receipt of your application and on screening the same we find you falling short on some of our admission criteria due to which we have kept you on our waiting list. Periodically (there is no specific time frame for doing so - it is done as and when the need for doing so arises) this list is reviewed and students moved to the evaluation process. Please check this website at intervals to ascertain if there has been any change in your admission status.

SPJAIN folks/seniors is there any chance that this status would change and if yes then ideally how much time it gonna take ??

My profile in short:
B Tech frm NIT Rourkela 2006
85% through out career
Work ex: 2.5 years - IT MNC....

I do not remember the details of his profile but he had about 2 years of work-ex and GMAT score of 690.
H i Shamit ,

Did Rajeev attend the presidents round or was he asked to leave for the day after the panel interview ??

Hi...I didn't have president's round. Moreover, I asked spj program coordinator regarding the status mentioned on the site and this is what she had to say,
"
We have only declared the results for the offered students. The balance students status as if they are on waitlist or regret will be updated by next week."

Looks like now i dont have any chance to get thru....however, I would like to know...how many candidates normally are there in Wait List and time duration of their conversion into Offer??? Please share your thoughts on it.

Now my status has been changed to "Students Short Listed for Evaluations" on spj site.

My Profile: 39 mnths of IT exp,
X - 70%
XII - 77%
B.E. - 76%
SPJAT - 71 pctile

I have been put on the waitlist too.... As per my understanding of waitlisting goes, there may be slight chance for this get converted to admission but we may have to wait for about 2 months for that result to be out.

Could anyone please throw some light on our chances of getting through.

A summary of my profile:
I have over 5 years of experience with SAP LABS and SEIMENS. I have done my BE from BITS.
Thanks Shamit for your reply...I realized later that, the site is not updated on time, thats why it was showing "wait list - initial screening", cuz when I submitted my spj appl, it did not have aptitude test score, and so they were showing that my appl is falling short on one of the criteria. Anyway, the status now shows "Students Short Listed for Evaluations", which is again not the latest status, as it means that I have a call for GD/PI.

Moreover, I asked spj program coordinator about this status, this is what she has to say,
"We have only declared the results for the offered students. The balance students status as if they are on waitlist or regret will be updated by next week."

So that clears it up that I don't have a chance to get an offer now.
My Profile:

Work Exp - 39 months in IT.
I was interviewed for IT but didn't appear for president's interview.

Keep me posted on your status.
Thanks again.

This is quite an old status....it will get updated soon. Even I had this status but then it was updated to "Shortlisted For Evaluation". This is what is currently showing there.

Re: SP Jain (Singapore/Dubai) GMBA - DEC 2008 Intake - 07-09-2008, 11:40 PM

I have been through the SPJCM admission process in MAY this year and therefore i had done my due dilligence before deciding upon SPJAIN as one of the Bschools i want to get into. Here are some of the PROS and CONS i found:

PROS:
  • One Year MBA, saving a year and therefore the oppertunity to make approx Rs. 10 Lacs atleast (which would be the salary post MBA).
  • Oppertunity to work in DUBAI and SINGAPORE, DUBAI especially as its one of the most booming Job Markets + SPJ is now rated No.1 Bschool in UAE.
  • I feel the Fee is pretty reasonable for a 1 year MBA given the cost of living in cities like DUBAI and SINGAPORE and comparing it to other 1 year MBA costs outside INDIA (even ISB costs upward of Rs.17 Lakhs).
  • SPJAIN has been able to successfully clock Good placements even last year when Bschools Like NUS, INSEAD - Singapore and Nanyang failed to get all the students placed.
CONS:
  • Doing an MBA during the time when the world is facing a global recession. I think this could be a make or break factor for most of us, personally i am counting on a gloabal economic recovery by the time i graduate from SPJAIN or ISB by next year (hopefully i will get into one of these).
This is my 2 cents , would like to hear everyone elses opinion.

She said that Indian Companies are used to recruiting people in Jan-Feb which is the normal recruiting season in India, But that does not mean they do not need managers any other time in an year, so if you look at it that way it shouldn't be difficult to land a good job. But some guys i know, who are pass outs of SPJCM, did express their concern over the placements for december batch,in India. But i do not feel it should be that big a problem...SPJCM must be wary of their reputation and would try their best to place the batch properly.

Cheers,
RD.
