Welingkar GD/PI Experience 2008

I had my GD/PI on 26th April (Bangalore Campus) at 10:15 AM

In the reception they gave a refreshment bag with few stuff to eat and a notepad with pencil

Then people in the reception asked us to register at the registration desk with the admit card, a copy of scorecard, original scorecard and a photo identity card for verification. After registering, they gave a small yellow card which had the batch allotted and PI room details.

Presentation (~30 mins)
After sometime, they took us to the presentation about Welingkar Institute of management. The seniors made a presentation which was nice and there were also a few alumni who spoke. Then the prof of Business Design spoke for a few mins and said that the option to apply for the PGP Business Design for this academic year will be available to the students today. (we had this option to indicate our preference for this course before logging on to take the Psychometric Test). He also said how well connected and technologically inclined the campus and profs were. After that Prof Uday came and spoke a few words about what they are planning to do in the future and some words about the Bangalore Campus. At the end, a few ppl asked questions like changing specialisation etc and Uday sir answered it very well.

The Bangalore Welingkar campus was gr8. Accenture, Infosys offices etc came to my mind. The whole place was full of glass partitions except for a few places. When I was returing to drink some water, a prof just dashed against a glass wall thinking it to be the entrance of the room then the students there helped him out.. then I was very cautious in moving around

GD (~ 20 mins)
Then we went to the GD room (two batches A and B in 4 rooms each with 2 panelists). As I said in the other thread, the topic was "IPL sports event - money's worth or money's waste"

I was in the 'B' batch it was very calm GD (relatively ) and two times it went to a fish market kinda situation but ppl returned to sanity soon One guy in light blue shirt started the GD after a few seconds of calmness and he maintained a good form through out the GD. Many times the whole group was responding to him Everyone was talking about how the money is worth, I and a few spoke something about how its a waste. But after sometime I was alone stressing a few points on how it was a waste by talking about what all they are doing it to achieve the level of marketing etc I thought I was digressing but I had no other way/gr8 points.

No one was asked to summarize, maybe bcos majority of the room came to a conclusion that the money was worth it and No comments from the GD panelists in our room.

Personal Interview (~30 mins)
two ppl where there. just a cool interview. at no point of time I was stressed
started with "What course did you do ?"
I told then I proceeded to tell about myself extra curriculars etc

Then a lot of questions about my final year projects (I'm a mech engg. fresher) and then a few more about automobiles (general stuff) . A few from my interests and hobbies like blogging. They have our application form and use the info to ask questions quite a number times.

After that they gave me a very old blurry picture and asked me what I noticed. I did not know what place it was.. for me the picture of very old madras central railway station came to mind. then I also told a few points but they were still asking Is there anything different that you can see from it ? I also think while answering I told some wrong facts etc by mistake

I was expecting some common questions like why mba? why welingkar? etc but they didn't ask me those q's.


Psychometric Test (~15 mins)
there is nothing diff here same set of ques like last yr. just do it fast and be consistent. (eg q's http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/mat-st...tml#post796937 (!! Welingkar GD/PI experience 2007 !!))


After giving that registration card to the person in the exit, I was out by 12.30 PM. The whole process was organised very well . At the end I thought it was a normal performance by me and could have done a lot better.. anyway my first GDPI

Nice to see brief description of what happened!!!I am sure by the look of it the rounds went pretty well....

Plz clarify some of my doubts :-

1) In gd did they gave just one topic or to choose between two??? If 2 topics then what was the other one.

2) In pi what questions did they ask abt hobbies?? did they ask abt strenghts and weaknesses??

3) In creativity test what was the pattern of questions?? what qualities apart from the analytical skills they were looking for????

4) In Phycometric tect were u able to answer all the q's in 20 min???can we mark in pencil and later on change the answer???

Ppl please calrify my doubts and any suggestions for preparation would help

Yeah...could you be a little more specific on these points?

1.Regarding gd we were asked to pick a topic ,both the panelists were from industries,we were judged on these parameters
1.Communication
2.Content
3.General Awareness
4.Team work

2.Regarding PI be very confident in ur replies......regarding strengths dont make any tall claims.....they were referring my application when i was answering regarding my strengths and even weakness can be a expected question though they didnt ask me....

3.Creativity test ---->how well u r able to analyse and interpret tht was wht they were looking for

4.Regarding Psychometric test question were like
a.u want to be
1.Manager
2.Teacher
3.None of these
b.R u a party going
1.Yes,Always
2.No,Never
3.Sometimes.....
u will be sitting before a computer and no book r pencil will be used ,dont think too much things can get messed......just answer wht u feel ...... i guess i answered ur questions.....all the best.....

hi finished my rd. yest
dey start wid a pro gd abt d inst
d bangalore cmpus also looks pretty sleek and posh
gd had 12 people in a grp 2 panelists
topic was 'SHOULD INDIA SUPPORT TIBETTAN CAUSE FOR INDEPENDENCE'
the panelists were friendly though did pt out d mistakes
then the interview again had two panelists who have studied ur form before u go
d psychometric test is simple
so don worry be happy

I jst had 1 query....did ne 1 of u receive an email b4 ur gd date frm welingkar where u were asked to confirm ur paticipation 4 the gd/pi process b4hand?pls hlp....

for us they just gave one topic.. no choice was given. I guess some other batches got a choice

They told me, being from tamilnadu they were surprised that I was not interested movies and music and asked me whether I was a fan of rajinikanth I just said I'm not interested much in movies etc.. so they asked about my blogs (3 of them) . I had mentioned blogging and webdesigning as my hobbies. no questions abt strength and weakness for me.

I was clueless after seeing the picture. whatever I said they showed no reactions in their face. I also told a few stupid stuff and one of the interviewer smiled thats all.

I finished the psychometric test in a jiffy.. just rush through all those q's without thinking much. you'll screw up if you try to manipulate

I dont think any special prep is needed. just be clear about what you have written in your app form. and get a few points about current hot events like IPL

can't describe much. mine was an old picture of an old building and the road infront of it.. very less quality and not much details were clear. a few weird stuff. they also asked what all emotions I get or what I feel after seeing it.

dunno much about it but its not AICTE approved yet. I was not able to grasp when they described it. much like a blend of all specialisations and a very rare course in the world.

also please don't quote long posts... it is a waste of resources and against PG rules
