i think this is the essence of ours so called upper castes to not allowing the lower castes to integrate into the society which has lead to all this exploitation and present trouble where eligible people like me and u have to suffer becoz. of reservations becoz. somebody belongs to reserved categories have to be included , and i have seen most of them do not require spl. right i have a broken dream of being a doctor when i was not selected for mbbs as i mssied out by 1 mark and where some of the guys who r from good families also took admission easily even with many less marks than me becoz. they r from reserved categories. this thing stills troubles me but it has never persuaded me to be such a rude to people belonging to reserved categoies . i still have many friends from these one.
and i want to ask you one thing and plz.reply truthfully if you are given a reserved status whether you would have taken it or not for betterment of your career,even if you don't need it,
and plz. follow this saying
" we are against RESERVATION not the people belonging to reserved categories"

Adding to this I also think that these are tough times for many ppl especially waitlisters (me included).. and in these emotions some one might go ahead and say such stuffs cause it is definitely true that someone is gaining but someone is losing because of these reservations. But yes tolerance does help...

plus it is we who turn a Nelson's eye to the political participation(voting etc) and then complain when policies don't go our way.

Hmm.. Hopefully when the dust settles all of us should get our dream instis but then one should remember: Words are very powerful and they hurt more than anything physical!! So Discretion while using them is prudent...

this is really bad to have such a personal attack. U have posted such a long post to show ur frustration. Are bhai control ur emotion n sounding like a gr8 manager. i m damm sure u will get selected in DMS. dont worry last year 10th july tak call kiya tha. all the waitlisted ppl got selected last year even i know some ppl got call who were not even part of waitlist.
At the last i want to tell u that i think i did not write anything offensive or pesonal attack in my previous post nor did i meant to hurt anybody sentiment.
just i want to tell u one thing that in last year batch IIT D just take 49 students instead of 75. they r not even bother to take GEN category students if they r not able to clear their criteria. dont worry abt the quality of IIT

Thanks for taking my message in an understanding way( No sarcasm )
I have better options than IITD right now.
The thing is that it sometimes pains people who are better qualified but not able to make it when they read about someone being "gifted" a seat.
As for the upper caste mentality, I have none. I have never believed in religion in my life, but I have always believed in meritocracy.

I will tell you about a guy I know. His father is my father's boss. My father got promoted only once every ten years and he is probably the most qualified person in his office. All his colleagues( same batch ) from Gen cat are still two posts lower than him. This guy, he was a daily wage labour when he started out. Right now he is HOD. He has no knowledge and relies on the others under him to do all the work. His son failed in 7th, 9th, 11th, 12th classes. Yet, his son drives around in a civic now, has done his engineering( in 6 years, mind it ) and is now trying for IAS. And I am sure he will make it to the IAS. So, you can see what type of people take advantage of reservation while in villages we still have cases I shudder to think of. That's where reservation is required, but is anyone trying to make an effort? NO !

Politicians don't care as it doesn't translate into votes, and the well of SC don't care either.

I absolutely agree with you Aman. This is what needs to be implemented throughout the country, a sense of comradarie, without any thought to caste/creed/religion

SBI, inside IIT Madras provides the cheapest loan. I remember , when joined IIT in 2006, they were offering it at 8.75% compared to market rate of 9.5%. I think now its being offered at around 10.25%(not sure). Its cheaper for IITians. Also, you have to pay your 1st sem now i.e. when you accept the offer but you can get it re-imbursed (as a part of loan from SBI)when you join IIT M.

I want to ask whether any branch of a bank inside IIT D also offers education load at less than the market rate... In that case it would be best to take the loan from there...

first of all sorry for harsh words . i think it is better to bury this matter right now. you said that you have better offers in hand. can you plz. specify what r these offers and also what is your status at iit-d i.e. selected or waitlisted and waitlist no. this will be really helpful to the waitlisted junta

u r probabilly right what u r saying. But u cant compare everybody on the same scale. also refrain urself from personal attack unless it generally end up as a bad taste. I dont want to write here my struggle. as it will end up another story some agree/disagree n lot of spamming. It is a futile discussion on this thread we should be more worried about waitlist guys.
