This is my view:
To accommodate OBCs, few seats have been added and hence, there might be increase in gen category seats as well and probably thats why your friend got the seat.

Hello Puys,
I dont know how much of this is true, but today Arjun singh has approved a hike in the fees of the IITs from this year. And the amount of Rs.54,000(fees for 1 sem) is said to be increased to Rs. 1 lakh...:icon_cry::icon_cry::icon_cry:... which means our total expense shall get doubled.......
Seniors, if u get any info, do inform us....
and also the date by which we will recieve leters, now with this fee increase fiasco, i hope everythin doesn get delayed......:(:(:(

You can surely appear for any Fin company you want, if you want to specialize in Fin. You background won't matter. That's because the companies also know that you have just started your MBA course and don't expect you to know much. It just that in the interview you need to convince that you will add value in whatever you will do and are ready to learn. In fact with your profile you may stress upon the fact that you have worked in a professional environment and would be able to able to handle tasks with professionalism and much more maturity. In addition, to help your cause you can read up about the company and the profile its going to offer.

Thanks.
i wanted to know with respect to final placements i.e.if i take fin as my majors, will the companies consider me for laterals or treat me as a fresher considering my work ex in manufacturing n operations.
Thanks in Advance

if you have done anything in your job that qualifies as relevant work ex, the companies MAY consider it as experience.. depends on company to company and cannot quote in general

Hi Seniors
Here are a few queries -
1. It may sound like a very elementary question but still will like to know about the requirements from Work-Ex people.Whether it is mandatory to resign & produce the relieving letter n Work-Ex.certificate at the time of registration? What are the documents required from students with Work-Ex.as regards resignation n relieving? Are there any specific proforma/fotrmats for these? Any other certifications/clearances to be obtained from employer?
2.Any updates regarding the despatch of admission letters?
I am asking specifically for these details as it is very difficult to get all these documents in a span of 1-2 months in large-scale PSUs/Govt. organisations. Moreover need to serve for notice period to avoid future complications.
Pls.elaborate about these issues in detail.Regards.

Yes, it is very necessary to have a relieving letter as the institute wouldn't let you in without a proper relieving letter. It becomes important because at the time of registration the central admissions office would scrutinize it. There is no format for the letter. It just needs to state that you are relieved from your job and have no obligations towards the company. Other than that you may need the work experience certificate, but that isn't really necessary, but may help you as a certificate during summers interviews and for final placements.
Not sure when the letters will reach you, but they should be reaching you next week I suppose. Can't confirm that for you as it is a sem break now in IITM and we have left for some hols before we go to our respective summer internships in different cities.
We understand that it would be different to get the proper documents as the time of response is different in different companies. However, what you can do is get some sort of a provisional relieving letter, as that can help you till the original arrives.
However, put your worries to rest as the letter will state in clear terms what documents will be needed for the registration process and after that you have any doubts you can surely post here or ask the office.
