Wow!!!:hurray:
The hostel pics are too good to believe that we'll be lliving at such an awesome place..
Another query, has the decision on increase in fee been taken??
If yes, does anyone knows what will be approx. estimate for our batch including hostels etc..??:dontgeti:
What were the figures for last batch ??

apart from the tuition fees, hostel and mess charges (which should be around 55 k + 12 k per sem x 4 times, approx) , you will be spending on a laptop (unless you already have one or, in the rare case, decide not to go in for...)
apart from that, your one major expense will be on the business suit which the class decides on (unless you decide not to spend on that too...)
cycle - if you decide to purchase on for travelling on campus (most junta does)
books - if you purchase them.. (u can always borrow from library or seniors...)
we used to contribute for stuff like b'day celebrations, festival celebrations etc...
finally, your day-to-day expenses on stationaries, toileteries etc...
apart from that, i don't see any big time expense
regarding the fee hike, if memory serves me right, you will be paying the same as the batch of 07-09... although, i need to confirm this...

if you think the hostel pics are awesome, wait till you see the rest of the campus. Where deer roam (once you are on campus for a few months, you get more excited seeing stray Dogs than deer! they are that common!), where monkeys swing by, an awesome lake, a lush green forest environ, canopies of trees, no city-noise, the cleanest air you would have experienced in a long long time (due to the no powered vehicle policy n campus), the magnificient gajendra circle at 1 in the night, the Open Air Theatre on weekends, the swimming pool and the gymkhana, the Students Activities Centre, the numerous stadiums and playgrounds... It is life at its best here in IIT M!

If some of you were thinking (Dare you think like that ) that Satya was exaggerating, let me clear all your doubts. The campus as described by Satya is just a glipmpse of what you guys can expect. The campus is really very beautiful and has a very serene feel about it.Deers actually will cross your path , more than even students sometimes . Not to forget Basera, Tiffanys and numerous other foodie joints to satisfy your tingling taste buds and Humongous appetite.Saarang and the various other fests are happening around the year and in case you feel IITs are dull places, you stand corrected. A CCD is present right next to DoMS , so you can think of unwinding after a hard days work , only to get ready for another engaging day tomorrow. Even in the sweltering heat, The environment and the greenery comforts you all the time. You will definetly have a great bunch of Seniors, as I have interacted with some of them personally.
All in all, you can definetly expect 2 rocking years !
P.S : I made it to my Dream Insti Thats why not taking up IIT M. My experience comes from the Numerous PG Meets @ IIT CCD and meeting up with the seniors there.

All guys eat in the Himalaya Mega mess... You have a choice of either north Indian or south indian cuisine from 3 different caterers (serving the same menu). You can choose any cuisine / caterer every month.
The south Indian fare is pretty decent (consider this an expert opinion from a tam!). The north indian fare is ok (it does tend to have the southie touch to it... but i guess, you cant escape that)... however, it does tend to get boring after some weeks / months... in that case, we have the option of gonig out to have northie stuff at Basera (the midnight canteen) - the only downside being, you gotta pay for it!
quality of food is pretty decent... you can easily survive the two years on that
(note: no true hosteller will ever praise the food!)
