the course fee is 75000, 300 vacancies, last date to apply is 20 may 2008.icici is giving 2.57 lac p.a.for 6 months pgp so, i think scb would b giving much more than that but, the d problem is we need 2 get mba degree for good job profile. so, the candidates who have got good colleges or good scores in entrance exam r definitely not going 2 apply for this course. so, it completely depends on d options available.not on course structure.

what matters here is the kind of job profile SCB will be offering to students after completing this course, if they are offering a paltry sum of say 2.5 - 3 lakhs ( with no idea about future growth prospects ) , we need to ask ourselves is this a good idea to opt for rather than going on for a 2 year mba ,
i mean what if these guys dont offer good growth prospects , (we would then be thinking of going ahead for an mba then, so that means 1 year spent on the course + 1 year spent working at SCB and then we know whether its good or bad, and if its not good then we would be spending another 2 years to complete our mba )
so i short plz if anyone knows abt this do let us know if its worthwhile going on for this course.
also in terms of growth at SCB , they would always give preference to MBA rather than a 1 year pgp course .so i hope someone could clear our doubts regarding the our career growth at SCB in comparison to MBA's hired by SCB.

Hi Swapnil,
I am from the BFSI segment and work for Citibank.
Well, I don't quite agree with you on this as I know it for a fact that even people who hold MBA degrees are posted on the same profiles!!
As far as the programme is concerned, I think it is tailor made for freshers who at the end of the course will end up with a Management trainee tag with SCB, equivalent to what other banks offer to a fresher with an MBA degree(in campus).
Salaries would still be the same as offered to Tier II MBA colleges.
So what you have to think about is, your priorities and urgency to do a PGP and your own circumstances.
1 yr PGP aint a bad option, just weigh it.
cheers!

The job profile will be that of a management trainee and the sals offered would be on par with what is offered to freshers at tier II colleges!!

A college or an organisation doesn't offer growth served on a platter to any individual. It is you who has to determine your growth dominated by your performance!! trust me, me just being a graduate, am a Financial services manager at Citibank!! and the irony is all my reportees are MBA grads!! So it depends on you as to what you make out of your career.

If you take my example, I'm not even an MBA, just a plain grad!! and as far as preference is concerned, they would offer the same tag(MT), same salary (MBA fresher tier II college) and the same growth prospects.
hope the above clarifies your doubts!!
cheers!
