Last year this decision was stayed by the supreme court.
i have a feeling this might affect the waitlist movement in general category.:unhappy:.Anyhow they will not be going back on the confirmed calls given.

Can some one please clarify whether the converts that were given earlier still hold..

If the total seats are not increased then GN seats will have to decrease to uphold the verdict.

Which means a few converts will be in danger.. :( :( :(

if obc quota is implemented than there will be a seat increase ...and quota will be implemented in a phase manner ...so general category guys dont panic....
noting will affect their status.......
moreover it remains to be seen if obc quota will be implemented this year or not

The admissions team wont be in a position to give any information on this issue as of now. We dont even know whether this is going to be implemented from this year or next.

It all depends on the official communication which the IITs receive from the Ministry of HRD. This would surely take a few more days.

Please keep checking the SOM website over the next few days. Once the official communication is received the IITs would notify all applicants through the website.

My intent of posting the news was that some seniors should take up the issue with admissions committee and get back to us with the details !!!
Lets not panic over this immediately, hopefully some seniors will come to our rescue on this query...

guys dont panic...i understand this is a bit of unnerving news for a lot of guys including me incidentally, but i guess since the results have already been declared sjmsom cannot go back and reduce the number of candidates frm gen category or other categories just 2 make way for obc qouta candidates if at all obc quota is included this year....wat it can affect is the waitlist movement in regards the iim resllts getting delayed and ppl confirming seats but later on backing out once iim results are declared....but i dont think SJMSOM wil go back on the confirmed calls and reduce the seats der...it clearly has one way which is to increase the number of seats to accommodate the new students coming from obc qouta....

As per the information last year...general seats were not to be decreased..i believe this spirit would be held....Lets wait for clarification on the part of government and IIT's and IIM's....added seats (if quota is implemented this year) should be extra....even our resluts were held up last year.... I hope this time the situation becomes clearer sooon...
