Hmm..here comes my wierd essay.....wen dey will read dis one dey will giv me a call just to chk wat is der inside my head..
I was really stumped by the topic.....
Started like..from medival age..der existed gender bais...all the discoveror, inventors, rulers etc were males...then..now due to globalization..nd better education conditions...women r getting proper education and now dey r into the work field...as the number of women r less and still the society is male dominated...nd males hav der own ego...so to do better den women men striving for even more...again to to better then men women r also trying even harder....consequently the aspiration and ambitions r inreasing des days....bcoz of increasing aspiration and in order to beat the other.......(now comes the real wierd thing...) we r exploiting the natural resources...and affecting environment very badly...and this is a war not the one fought wid weapons but one wid higer ambitions...and ultimately affecting environment and in effect destroying human beings...
Dey r goin to scratch der head wen dey read dis...hope dey dont debar me from giving XAT...

Well that was a extreme case of Gender imbalance. So I thought of that. Not that there was a third world war impending in that.

i think another way to look at the topic could be how war has led to gender imbalance......in any war....the number of men dying are bound to be more than women......wat say??

Hey puys,
Essay writing is very important at the GDPI stage and we must start practicing right away since the XAT is very close now!
Here, I will be posting a topic and then an essay that I have written. Please feel free to post your comments, (and even more important)your criticisms. The topics I will be writing on, will be previous years XAT and similar topics.
Please feel free to suggest any topics and also post your own essays so we have different point of views.

Topic - More than one billion Indians: A gigantic problem or a sea of opportunities.
Looking at the pressures on the environment, on resources, looking at the aggressive one child policy of China, it may seem that a large population can only cause more problems. While true to a considerable extent, it is not necessarily so.
A large population will cause problems for the environment. There will be, at the very least, too many mouths to feed. For a country like India, where most of the population is unskilled, where the public education system and the public health care system is in a terrible state, where most of the population lives in fairly unhygienic conditions, a large population does and will bring many challenges.
However, given the right policy initiatives and the right direction, these billion plus Indians could be very useful. To start with, overhauling the public schools and public health care must be the first priority. Recent government initiatives like the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan have had limited success but more needs to be done. The proposed universal health insurance scheme, if implemented properly, could be a boon for the common, lower middle class Indian who cannot afford even decent healthcare. Other initiatives like increased private participation in education, more vocational courses, more ITIs, higher education related reforms would also be required. That said, it is important to also control the growing population as an ever increasing population will do more harm than good.
Thus, a billion, skilled, well educated, healthy Indians can help India sustain its high growth trajectory, generate wealth for people at the very bottom and raise the standard of living of all in general.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Time Taken - 27 mins
Words - 265
My analysis - Took too long for this and also wrote too much. I think I may have strayed away from the topic a little bit. Talked more about "what should be done" rather than "what the topic would mean". :rockedov:
Any comments, views, criticisms most welcome!..
