Jmet rank : 235 (about 13 guys have this rank.:wink

work ex : 8 months.
acads : way below average . ( in XII scored 57.4 % , has been my bugbear in many of the interviews , sometimes made me wonder if it automatically disqualified me for final selections , but finally converted XIMB to dispel that doubt.)
extra curric. : profile filled with it. right now working in a magazine as art section editor.
gd topic :
were given three topics actually , two rejected .
first was "Nothing" , which panelist gave out of his hat while discussing with us. would have loved to talk on it but group backed out . ( it was a very informal discussion where we were asked if we would lwant the topic.)
next we got to pick up a topic , i chose no. 1 from list of 1 to 10
interviewer declared that it was the toughest topic on the list ( we all braced up ready to meet the challenge.:cool2

he declared the topic
" Gandhi and Leini..." :tellme:
he had to spell the other name , and no it was not Lenin , no body had heard of him except one person who knew him to be some footballer.
so finally the third topic , a very very simple one.
" Unity in Diversity"
we all talked a lot ,
from rainbows to globalization to Tibet to Yoga( meaning integration or summation ) to Zeitgeist ( google it ) to thermal equilibrium to atoms to.....
as i said a lot.
no fish market , but really one of the most keenly contested gd that i have ever attended .
many people didn't come because they have got the other calls , but it also implies that those who came were the people who really wanted this convert. so the gd was really one where you have to work in each and every word of yours inspite of it being no fish market.
PI
the senior (Vikas!) who came to discuss the insti with us last night , was the very same person to escort me to the pi panel .
he told me many unique positive points of dms before i went in , also told me that the Prof. inside was Mr. Maya( am not too sure if i have got it right)
and that he teaches creative solutions in first semester .
the info was very handy , used it to make the interview go in a creative direction . mentioned Edward De Bono ( lateral thinking guy , normal suspect name in any creative solution course) and naturally got quizzed on him.
there were 4-5 people in the panel , one prof ,and other industry guys.
questions were coming from everywhere so i am not going to use p1,p2..convention just p: panelist and m: me.
P:tell us about yourself
M:told
P: oh , you work in a magazine ,what sort of work?
M:told
P:you have got a good thing going here , why break it and go for mba?
M:told
P:what was your final year project
M:(DES , data encryption standard . explained in detail )
P:first computer science , then art section editor in a magazine , tell me what sort of a profile you are looking for in a job?
M: told ( it was finance , talked about the companies which came to recruit last year , talked about SBI caps which i had a discussion with a senior )
P:what are your reading habits?
M:Literature and Philosophy.(couldn't believe that i was being asked questions on this line , reading is obviously a passion . )
P:any biz related books?
M: talked about Steven Covey and Edward de Bono.
P:tell us all the 7 habits of Covey's book.
M: No way i remember them sir
( everybody laughing.)
P: ok ,tell us about two .
M: detailed about my favorite "circle of influence" .
P: Which book of de Bono have you read
M: Lateral thinking.
P: define lateral thinking in two lines.
M: To break away from the inertia of the data presented with , stepping sideways and finding new elements relevent to a solution having the whole framework in perspective. ( or something like that. )
had a bit more chit chat with the panel , and the interview finally got complete.
Was fun .
