I got an admit from LIBA couple of weeks back, but this communication class info was mailed to me just today. I believe it will be for everyone, though not a 100% sure abt this. You might wanna call up the office and enquire. Else, request seniors to help out please.
This is to inform you that in order to enhance your written and communication skills in English, we have arranged an intensive bridge course from Monday May 26, 2008 to Friday June 7, 2008 ( 10 Days ). Classes will be from 09.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. You are required to report for the course on Monday May 26, 2008 failing which you will forfeit your seat . ATTENDANCE IS COMPULSORY FOR ALL SESSIONS. Male students requiring hostel accommodation should contact Fr. Maria Augustine the LIBA hostel director immediately or make their own arrangements for accommodation.
Anyone else attending this course from 26th May? Or is it meant only for a handful of dopes like me who can't speak in English for nuts
yeah could the seniors plz throw some light on this course issue
is every1 being called for same ? or r they callin' few selected candidates based on some parameters?

Hey u'all
Congrats to all who made it.
There's seems to be a huge concern regarding the Communication Classes.
Well LIBA is doing this for the first time.
We had our pre-induction classes, but it dint cover Communication.
Im guessing, Prof. Lisa Thomas would be taking classes, if so, she's excellent. She'll give you pointers & hints thats very useful.
Im not sure of the details. Would recommend that you call up the office & find out.
Hope this clears sum doubts.

just to add to what DoALot has said... I'm guessing you guys already know that your communication skills are just as important as the academics that you encounter as part of your MBA.
these are things one tends to take for granted and we all think were really good at communicating but from a business perspective, you may be far from ideal. this course will aim to get you there...
knowing these things pays dividends when you have to finally interact with corporates... just makes you all that more effective.

As Doitall and atilla have already said the communication classes are a new addition for this years batch.. As we did not have it last year... However they will surely be based on business communication and will impart the necessary skills required for effective corporate communication..A definite must attend to all tose who have been called to do so...
Also last year the pre-induction courses were optional and were on basic accountancy, basic mathematics and basic computers.. Among this courses i think only accountacy classes for those who do not have a commerce background is helpfull..
Non mathematics and non engineering students can opt for the mathematics classes.. Althought the portion covered for this classes will not be used in the main MBA course...
N as for the computer course, frankly it was of not much use.. Cause the very fact that you are reading this post shows that you have much computer knowledge then what was taught to us in the computer course..
However thi year, I am not sure if youll have a option to decide if you want to attend the pre-foundation courses or not ...
Are you sure... I know manipal.. there is nothing else there except colleges and instis.. and leaving LIBA for TAPMI seems to be little strange
I was fully set for LIBA. I liked the campus, the seniors and the place, I'm so comfortable there. But then I had to make a decision. I still stand by it.
