A possible negative outcome of this can be that people like me who were waiting for IIM results might have to pay up to secure a seat in case the IIM's results don't come by the 17th or 18th.. That could cause some problems to the waitlisters

any sane OBC candidate would definitely wait 4 1 more yr.Coz a seat at da IIM is almost guaranteed next yr considering the 27% reservation.

Yeah thats a problem.. But thats only going to delay the waitlist movement and not stop it from moving. If no. of seats are kept the same then I have no problems. Its better late than never.
now that the quota regime is a reality and many top class MBA institutes will have upto 50% of their seats reserved by 2011 , i guess we should figure out how it will affect XIMB in the long run...
XIMB (and XLRI) being minority run institutes, dont have to implement any quota. unless the law is changed again, we can safely assume that the entire batch of XIMB students will come in based on sheer merit, while only 50% of the batch in other equally good or better institutes will consist of students who came in through sheer merit...
will this mean that the peer quality at XIMB will be a shade better, whcih in turn will lead to better placements, brand, recognition etc... i think so
from all the above discussions i feel that this obc resvn is gonna be a happy newz for waitlisters...coz
1)less number of OBCs for more seats...so more GEN seats in IIMs
2)non IIM selected candidates may try for IIM nextyear 4 he/she will hav more chances
3)B schools like XIMB will become better 4 not diluting their brand...
so is it clear and confirmed that XIMB does not come under the list of institutes that will be implementing OBC quota?
i mean is there no need for XIMB to comply with SC verdict???
