I'm asking this question since currently I'm being offered 6.0 lacs at JP morgan chase and i shall be resigning from the same to join GIM. In case the last earned salary is taken into consideration the economics will work just great for me, and even if it dosent I would still be happy to get my MBA degree from an esteemed college like GIM.
Would really appreciate ur honest opinion.

Congrats for your selection
Let me clear one thing here we are honest to the extent possible on this forum.. Regarding your query, the criteria for Laterals and its package depends on what company offers.. There have been times I remember during the placements of my seniors where companies where bargaining with the seniors regarding packages and locations to get seniors join their companies..Regarding laterals during our seniors placement, work-ex was the criteria for shortlisting but the package they offer does keep into account your prev salary
So the process is determined by the company which comes to the campus..

I guess Rahul has more or less answered your query.... I will give you some examples.. last year there was an IT company ... It had a base figure for all freshers and it used to pay 50k for every year of experience over the base figure for freshers.. so for a work ex of 2 years , you get 1 lac more over what the frsher will get .. maybe even more ..depends on how attractive your work profile was for the company
In my case ... the company paid 7.25 for freshers and 8.5 for laterals.. which included me with 5 years, another guy with 5 years and 7 years..
It all depends which company you are applying for .. suppose you apply for a finance company 2 years down the line .. and it is really on the lookout for people like you ... then you can make a killing ....
I Hope your query is addressed
