NMIMS Management Quota Applicants 2008

hey puys,
are'nt we missin smthn.my score is 105 with a rank of 820.now i expect atleast a 50 more ppl with the same score but with a rank better than mine(just like the written test ranks).similarly this funda is applicable at other scores too.so how s the colg goin to create parity amongst all same marks getters but diff. rank holders???

puys,this management seat seems to b a very costly affair...lil analysis of it tells me that the cost of it cud reach almost 14 lakhs for two years.

colg fees-4.65*2=9.30 lakhs
hostel rent-95000*2=1.90lakhs
laptop+cost of livin for 2 years in mum=70k+1.5 lakhs approx=2.2lakhs
travelling(home and return)+all other exp for 2 yrs=1lakh

all this comes out to be around 13.40 lakhs....
now since i m a fresher(no work ex)...n after givin management exams one time,i ve a fair deal of idea abt the mistakes i made and what it takes to rectify them,i think instead of spending such a hefty amount, it will be a wise decision to give anthr shot at cat fms snap and the rest...

bhai dont get anxious...if previous years records are somethn to go by then u r on ur way to mumbai on the management airways!!!

but apart from the extra tuition fees all other cost are fixed
so as per ur analysis if a management seat cost u 13.4lac then even a free seat will cost u arnd 9 lac

Hey my Rank is 796 and i am planning to go for MQ.

Apart from NM i have also recieved GD calls from TAPMI, KJSOM and Welingkar(Expected Offcourse) .

I am sure of a final call from TAPMI also but this year TAPMI has raised the fee to 6.4 (Tution) + 1.1(Hostel) = 7.5 Lacs for the entire course
so my query is that

Q1. Would it be better to join TAPMI ( 7.5 L ) or MQ of NMIMS ( 11 L) , which college is better and which would be better in this scenario for me?

Q2. I am currently of 29 years of age, by the time i come out i will be 31 so will i get a job or not becos of age factor (2-3 years of Work Ex , in a reputed steel firm, Basically a Mech. Engrr) ?

Can Some seniors or people having similar dilemmas share their views and please guide me in my 2 main questions of life management?

I just sopke to the NM admissions, i asked dem two questions.. also find her response -
1. wud MQ candidate b considered for merit list movement? ---- Yes, d decision so far has been 2 consider MQ also in merit..
2. for MQ, is der any provision 4 loans at the admissions counselling? --- No, v need to arrange for loan ourselves (she referred to Dena,SBI).. Also, v can opt for our own accomodation (upto d candidate)


My concern is, d MQ ll b out only on 26th, n d counselling on 29th, how r v supposed 2 arrange such n amt in such a shrt time.... shud v start approaching the banks immediately? If so, can v cancel d loan in any case v get a merit seat?

Enlightened ones, do enlighten me

1) tho dis may sound like ranking of B-school, its a no brainer that, anyday its better to join NM than TAPMI or Welingkar...dunno abt KJ... for a moderate fees, mayb TAPMI wud hv been an option but it wud fade into oblivion once u consider d placement... also d reputation..der r enuf facilities available for loans (reg d diff in fees of 3.5L)

Hi Puys
a)I talked to Mr.Shinde yesterday,the Deputy Registrar of NMIMS.He told me very clearly that those securing a seat in management quota this year will not be upgraded to normal seats at any cost.
b)He confirmed that the last rank to get admission in NM last year was 460 under normal seats.
Hence puys,now that the confusion is clear,I believe people with ranks better than 460 atleast must not apply for management setas,as it would be sure shot wastage of money for them.(This year last rank to get admission will be 480+,due to various factors allready discussed)
