Hi All.....go thru prev years threads on NIFT, you'll get plenty of info on psychometric tests and GD's and about various NIFT centers too.

...copying stuff written on the thread..its posted in 2006 but dont think much would have changed!

"Psychometric Test. The test will comprise of 6 sections as follows:
1. visual Reasoning - Questions will be easy but practice hard, so that u wont commit any mistakes.
2. Problems on Maps - These will be time constrained. You will be provided with a map, you are supposed to connnect two maps in the map using d mouse. Pretty easy excercise; bas dont panic. Stay kool n give ur best.
3. Situation Based Questions - Again MCQ's based on situations, to check your decision making capabilities.
4. Questions on Leadership Capabilities, Initietive, Creativity etc. - Simple questions. Be as natural as possible. An even if you pretend to be good; stick to same stnce coz same questions will be asked again and again.
All questions will be in MCQ format. Stay cool. Many questions will be timed, so keep ur cool and give ur best."

experience people please tell us about the type of gd and the kind of topic.Please tell us about the interview also. Do we need to brush up about the fashion industry and brands or is it ok if we are thorugh with our resume. plz help.

"{yes, U r rite to think that i m pursuing MFtech management at NIFT Hyderabad. infact now the course name is changed to MFM, i.e. Masters of Fashion Management.
well for psychometric test u dont need to prepare anything, becoz they can ask u anything, when i appeared for this test, they asked me some questions regarding that how will i respond in a particular situation, so it can be anything.
as far as GD and interviews are concerned, they usually give case studies for GD, they ask ur group to discuss it. and interview is quite casual, they usually ask u about ur graduation background and something bout the fashion industry or brands or retailing....
if u want to ask anything else, then feel free to ask me anytime....

I m not very sure about the venues....but you will receive the registered mail with the details pretty soon! So don't worry about that...just brush up ur knowledge about Fashion industry etc and you should be good! All the best!

hmm.....guys go through the previoius threads of NIFT....I guess most of your queries are already answered in them.....about Psychometric test someone has already put a old post in this thread...that's what psychometic test is and it is totally objective......GD can be a case study or general topic also but generally a case study.....For interview be thorough with your resume and have some idea about fashion industry, brands and retailing......

Abouyt venue, generally it is Indian Social Insititute at Lodhi Road, New Delhi.....GD/PI generally in the 1st week of march......Let me know if you need more help

i got a call too..!i am sooo happy!i did not..i repeat..i did not prepare at all.i was almost convinced i will drop a year and then prepare full on..but i cant believe i cleared it.i am soo happy.does any one know what are the college passing cut off for nift.if any....

What was the case study like?
Is there any ranking for the 7 Nift centers....I've heard Delhi is at the top!

{well i will go with ur questions according to the sequence...........
well psychometric test is a written test.........
its usually a subjective test, but it can sometimes be objeective too, some years back it was objective but after that it has never been objective.........
second, the case study is usually related to some brand, like marketing of a brand or it can be bout some retailer or retail chain too. my GD case was about an Export House who wants to introduce his own brand in ladies wear, so some data with him was given and some market info was there and we were asked to discuss on deciding the market segment he should cater.......
by the way, please let me know ur stream for bachelors, ur knowledge level bout the fashion and brand industry (like u know all the processes & procedures, or u just know the names), and also wether u r a fresher or an experienced one, this will help me guide u more efficiently and also to tell u some points which will help u a lot at ur GD & PI.}
