NIFT 2008 GD/PI Calls

hey anu,
good to see u back... i am hoping to see u as well for the counselling.. and yeah u still can apply to few colleges thru MAT... i am sure many colleges wud be still in the admission process... which mat did u right BTW?? b'coz feb and december MAT have better institutes which take the score... the september MAT has absolutely horrible institutes.. well my case is partially similar to urs and similar to arpit's... i wrote NMAT and MAT... missed narsee monjee cut off by 1 mark... horrible... and then wrote MAT.. got thru some decent colleges... but didn't go for any as i felt NIFT is offering me the perfect course i wanted to do for my masters... so here i am... waiting but no regrets... happy i reached this level and hope to get thru as well... u see anu, dont think too much abt the pay pack and stuff at this point of time...think abt wat u want in life and see if this course is taking u towards ur goal or not... if yes, go for it... if not, figure out wats the course u shud be doing to reach ur goal.... and once u have gotten ur dream course, it depends completely on the individual how he/she is able to make the most of wat is taught in coll...

well i must say... U R ABSOLUTELY FOCUSED IN LIFE... hats off to u dude.. i seriously appreciate this abt u... none of the negative points abt NIFT have changed ur mind.. and dont say u dont have a choice yaar... come on... if this is wat u wanted all ur life, then this is the best choice u have in hand... ... and knowing the kinda person u r... absolutely versatile... u will make it big in life...

evn i m vry desperate to step in the fshn industry, since m graduated frm design field. so i jast cant imagine myself doin bloody general mba.

Nitin this side...

It seems you all have decided to build castles in the air... Castles with no foundation... I think you are being blind optimistic.. nywaz, all the very best to all of you...

I would advice that it is the most important matter of your life.. You should take every decision very diligently and it is always wise to learn from other people's mistake than to make a mistake and then learn from it and later regret...

It is just an advice or a suggestion, rest depends on you...

But please, according to my experience it is not at all worth to play with your life.. ur two most important years which will decide ur future...

I am writing all this, because I and my batch mates have been in this mad race, and suffered a lot, still suffering....

All the very best to u all and do take a gud decision...

Heyy Thanx Dhanu for such nice words.. I seriously din know that stuff abt me... I have loved this thing since I've completed 12th and always wanted to do this.. Actually I've a Garments retail business in Delhi.. So I have always had a knack for this.. Thats what I said in the PI as well..

Yaar I have asked my mama and bhaiya.. both are doing MBA.. One is working in Dubai for 10 yrs and one has just completed MBA.. Both of them are telling em to go n join NIFT.. They are telling me that this placement phaze is temporary.. There is a global slowdown.. Placements have dropped in every field.. Banks, IT, Stock Markets etc.. But all is set to settle down withi next 2 years.. By which time we have had finished our PG.. Why not do it in the field we like rather than getting confused and jumping here and there.. they are saying give it ur best and u'll get rewards coz retail sector in india is up for a major boom.. Just imagine how u'd feel if u do an MBA and the condition is the same..

I am not forcing anything but just telling what they told me.. They just said that NIFT is a brand name and u have done well to get into it.. They also told me to do what u really like rather than going for something just for money.. If u do ur job passionately, u'll be more successful than if u do something just for the sake of it...

I have not asked my NIFT friends yet abt what they feel abt the placements.. Will tell u as soon as I ask them..


One more thing.. I met a girl in councilling (Romie u know who).. She had done appearal design last yr frm Hyderabad, is currently working and was attempting for Fashion management this yr.. She has a very good rank... Now if she was also pissed off NIFT and its administration, wouldnt she have gone for any other MBA course??


All these things are leading me nowhere except for NIFT... I will try to do this course to the best of my ability.. I seriously believe all of u who are passionate abt fashion shd keep all speculations aside and join it... I am sure if we work hard enough, there's a bright future awaiting us...

I suppose with a rank of 115, I am going to get hyderabad, gandhinagar, chennai, kolkatta. Which one wd be better guys? Hyderabad or gandhinagar?
