Hii guyz... Well..lots of personal opinionss... Upto a certain extent i vil agree vth views exprsd by others..but ven i luk arnd at all passouts...sum r reltvly more sucesful than others...thts whr d diffrnc of opinion arises.. When v succeed, often v credit it 2 ourselves..but in vice versa case, blame can b put on insti(no personal offense meant)... To name few sucesful alumni frm rcnt past.. Thr r ppl vth folwng profiles: marktng mangr-castrol, brand mangr-levis,prodct head-lee cooper,concept head-Central,brand mangr-pepe n many more... Even ICFAI hyd is unabl 2 place all vth gud jobs.. Certainly NIFT has many-many flaws.. I wud sugest u all 2 refer 2 old nift threads..tht vil make d picture clearer... Finaly i hv a simple suggstn 4 all...if u hv faith in urself n u knw wht kinda career u wana make after dis course then go ahead...but if u r nt so clear abt dis course n wana go 4 general mgmt..then gv a shot 2 cat agn.. Im sure mst of u vil fetch sumthng beter than NIFT... Dnt join any damn course/insti jst coz few morons lyke me r suggstng tht...follow ur heart n do ur hmwrk well befr takin ny decisn..its questn of ur life...

guys... there are a few things which u need to ask urself before getting swayed by wat our seniors or even other ppl say...

1. im sure nobody's a fool that they wont think bout wats good n bad after doin this course... we were all pretty much in our senses wen we filled up our forms... FMS is defnitely nt comparable to an MBA... coz its a course specific to the fashion industry... one cannot compare a hotel management course to an MBA rite... similar is the case fr FMS...

2. get ur priorities straight n crystal clear... one shud knw wat they wanna get outta their lives... i feel there's no dearth f work fr anyone in this world.. only the person shud be smart enuf to tap it... the beginning may nt be a very rosy affair... but once u get on the track.. there's no stopping u...

3. hv spoken to a very close frnd of mine doin the same course in delhi.. n all that she said was... don jump into this field jus bcoz u gt a good rank or u getting into the cream insti... join only if u wanna do this course n help urself to channelise ur future in the direction u want to... even she was of the opinion that there are a lot f ppl whu join delhi campus n then crib sayin that this wasnt wat they had expected.. they thot of it as an MBA with similar expectations relating to pay package n stuff...

guys this field is somethin.. wher an answer shud come out in an instinct... nt wandering over thots n pooled discussions...

Read ur MIND... don take decisions that end up gettin squashed bcoz u dreamed of a utopian world n a life fr urself... choose n decide wisely...

i cmpltly agree with ya shreya tht v shd b quite aware of the facts u hv posted...like ths course aint a subsitute to MBA n is a very specialised course aiming at specifc field... evn i had a talk to afew snrs...but evn they had diffrnt opinions..sm were happy with d scenerio..n a few were nt at all happy with the packages etc... i agree tht most of thm said tht NIFT mfm packages dun go very high but thn ..a few got vry decent packages also...so teh question remains...wats the real scenerio.. the packages placemnts etc.... how come everyone s talking so differntly abt this ???

Are yaar we knew that the placements weren'y gr88.. say 3.5 to 4 avg.. That wd have done initially.. But this scene that not even all the students are placed leave alone the packages is very depressing... However, since I dont have any options and since I have always wanted to do this course, I'll get in... Further, we can always reconsider our decision during the 1st sem and give CAT MAT etc if we think that future isnt bright enough..
I find no use of sitting at home all this time..

Further, if the scene is good and we see opportunities, we can continue..

Frankly I cant think of anything else at the moment...

I agree with u buddy..altho vwere aware of the placmnt woes....bt the new placemnt thingy tht has come up is very depressing ...thst y i m forced to think abt the otehr options as well..i din apply anywhr but i supp with my MAT score i can still coax a few schools to take me in...n i think m gonna try it out..u din appear fr any o the other ??? evn i m very confused....n cant think o anything
