Thats wht they claim that they will help...its kinda hopeless..when we joined..we encountered an agent(so called help) wandering arnd asking ppl for accomodation requirements....
even if ur 3rd yr results r nt out...take ur marksheets of 1st n 2nd yr...along vth provisional cert (if u can get)..knowin DU im sure its hard to get........
take copies of all imp docs as mentioned in ur call letter.....along with originals.....

one question - when we say that job profile for nift guy is different from the routine jobs of others, what exactly we mean... i personally intend to get into branding(cos i assume it would be exciting)... but i think it takes some 3-4 years to get into that........ can u tell us something about say a day's routine .. for a person like you....
cos i would be leaving (in fact have left) a job paying me around 20k just cos its boring . i dont want to end with the same fate........ with higher salary ... cos salary is not really a motivational factor for me ........

@@ sarah & dhanu........ guys i think its possible for u to get into chennai... see as per what i have found ratio of shortlisted to waitlisted = 2: 1. something.. so my understanding is that basis past trends NIFT expects every 3 rd guy to back out .and the Rank overlapping thing is high in top rankers after that its not the much........ also Dhanu... when u talk about the incidence that a girl did not speak a word in GD but still has good Rank, the following equation might give an explanation :

Rank = Written Score + Psycometric score + Gd score + Interview Score

Another possibility, Guys having Status as NIL... might be guys who did not appear for GD pi ,,(we all recollect that for GD/PI attendance was not 100%) but still had good written scores to secure a Rank... but since they cannot be given a admission the status is shown as NIL.... i think u can check with NIFT for that... if they respond in affirmative then, we can safely remove that number as well ......

hey Priyank dis is Preti from kolkata. i got d rank 40 m so damn dissappointd man i neva thot i wud land up so low as 2 not get delhi yaar.. plz ne idea mumbai or bengaluru which 1 wud b btr?? i live in kolkata n i no way can settle 4 dat centre. u said in ur prev post dat mum/beng are gud enuf but facultys not gr8.. if thrs 8 month internship in total den wich centre is more sensible 2 join mumbai or bengaluru?? i have a fren in nift kol n she is terrified abt how she will spend the rest of her year in MFM. she bars ne1 from cumin here. is dr ne chance a rank holder like me can get get thru delhi?? also i heard of a system dat nift does nt allow gurls hostel accomodation aftr d 1st year is dat so?? if dats d case its bad, plz enlighten me further yaar. d result has been so shockin

Hi! I am from NIFT Kolkata, got through FMS exam, ranked 104.
I want to know whether Mumbai NIFT is good enough ... I am not asking about placement prospect. I know all that. I am asking about the city, how far is it from happening Mumbai main city ? I know its kinda far. Is it possible to visit Mumbai city every evening ?

Well... Jobs are termed as differernt coz Fashion arena is a very glamourous field to be in. And thts wht prompted all of us to pursue dis course. And from a layman's perspective..workin with any big brand/retailer is something very unique n different. Plus being in dis domain, u person lifestyle also gets a makeover.
As far as Branding & Advertising is concerned, we manage operational aspects which includes print, radio n tv advt, managing looks at stores, loyalty programs, sponsorships (eg "2nd Coming of Gods of Rock" on history channel), website, mobile promotions etc. this are r d mundane(but perfectly dynamic) aspects of typical branding profile... it wont take 3-4 yrs to get into branding profile. I started off in d same domain as internee. And if you are in some other profile, its tough to switch over within d industry.... Specially for sales n marketing, you'll have to compete with hardcore MBA's. But since you've done an specialzed course, I strongly believe that you can do a better job HERE than any MBA.
As far as salaries are concerned you'll somethng close to what you're getting now or what you'll be getting if you work 2 more years...but growth rate is very high since industry is on rise.....

Hi Preeti,
Well.... I would suggest u to pick NIFT Banglr coz mst of industry is clustered in n arnd Banglr...so u get better industry interface n opportunities in Banglr.. Mumbai is also good but most of students frm mumbai aspire to join Banglr based companies...faculties r equally good/bad at both places...hence banglr is reltvly better....
Not sure abt hostel thingie...u will get to knw only after u join....
(I think u scrapped me also...!! reply is nt going nywaz..since scraps frm strangers are blocked)

congratulations to all who got thru...even i got thru.. my rank is 75..but really not happy with it... i had a talk with a x niftian n she told me that..almost 30% or more dont turn up on the final day.
all we guys have to b patient.. as we have no clues what actually happens on the counselling day... even i called up nift they told me that 17 for selected n 18 july for waitlisted candidates r given as counselling dates . we all wud have to take things according to our priorites n not our situations... just grab the best oppurtunity
